Why is my HLF 5700 heating slowly?
With a multi-boiler stack, scale has several heating elements to attack, and they rarely degrade at the same rate. We descale each boiler individually, measure heat-up against spec, and test every element's resistance. Whichever doesn't recover gets replaced.
Why is the cold foam weak when hot foam is fine?
The cold-milk side runs its own calibration, separate from hot foam. Most weak cold foam is a calibration or cold air valve setting rather than a failure. We verify cold-side temperature, adjust the valve, and replace aged seals while we're in there.
Why has the brew temperature drifted on our 5700?
Sensor calibration drift or scale on the heat exchanger, and sometimes both. We measure actual temperature at the group, descale the exchanger, and recalibrate the offset until the readings hold steady. Shot quality follows the temperature back.
Why are shots pouring at different volumes?
The flow meter has scaled up and is miscounting, or the pump is fading. We clean the meter and verify its pulse count, then measure pump output. Only a pump that genuinely measures below spec gets quoted for replacement.
Can you fix the 5700's large touchscreen?
Yes. Freezes are nearly always firmware: a hard reset clears most, a reflash from a known-good image handles the rest. A failed digitizer means a display module swap, which is routine on this platform and nowhere near the cost people fear.
Is 250 cups a day realistic for the HLF 5700?
Yes, that's what the multi-boiler, dual-grinder architecture exists for. The honest condition is service discipline: at that volume, descale intervals, milk sanitation, and grinder calibration come due faster. A 5700 that gets them runs like the flagship it is.
Why does steam fade halfway through service?
Scale building in the steam circuit, a steam valve that no longer opens fully, or a steam-boiler sensor misreporting. The multi-boiler design means we can test the steam side in isolation. The fix is usually a descale plus a valve cartridge.
Both hoppers seem off on dose. What's the fix?
Simultaneous drift usually means a bean change or a long gap since the last calibration rather than two coincidental failures. We weigh ten shots per hopper, measure burr gaps, and recalibrate both sides. Burrs only get replaced when the measurements say so.
Is the 5700 expensive to keep running?
Less than its size suggests. The parts that actually wear (springs, seals, gaskets, sensors) are modest, and the platform's modularity keeps labour predictable. The real cost driver is skipped descales on a machine with this many boilers, and that one is avoidable.
How much does a repair visit cost?
Flat rate for the visit, parts billed at their actual cost on top. You'll hear the rate when you book, and for bigger jobs we quote in writing on-site before any work starts. No estimate that balloons mid-job.
How fast can you get here?
Same-day. Call in the morning and a technician is usually on-site before the day is out; calls placed later in the day book for the next morning. Urgent breakdowns get priority routing.
Which areas do you cover?

Do I need a service contract?
No. We work call by call. Plenty of customers put us on a maintenance schedule eventually, but that's their choice after seeing the work, never a requirement.
Are the repairs warrantied?
Parts carry their manufacturer warranty, and we stand behind our labour: if the same fault recurs, call us and we'll review it. Specific terms are discussed upfront on each job, not promised in marketing copy.
Do you repair on-site or take the machine away?
On-site whenever possible, which is most of the time. If a job genuinely needs the bench, like a full boiler rebuild or major electronics work, we'll say so before anything leaves your building.
How do I book a service call?
Call us or send the form on this page. We confirm the machine, the fault, and a time window the same day. If it's urgent, say so and we'll route the nearest technician.
What happens on the first visit?
Diagnosis first: we confirm the fault, tell you what caused it, and quote the fix before touching a wrench. Most repairs finish in that same visit because the common wear parts ride on the truck.
Do you carry parts or order them in?
High-wear parts for the platforms we service constantly ride on the truck. Anything else we order, usually next-day where suppliers allow, and we tell you the lead time before committing you to anything.
My machine is older or out of production. Will you still look at it?
Usually, yes. We service legacy machines for as long as parts can be sourced, and we're honest when a repair stops making financial sense against a replacement. You get the math, you make the call.
Are you cheaper than the manufacturer's service network?
Often, but that's not the pitch. We quote against the actual work, not a factory pricing book, and we'll tell you when a manufacturer warranty claim is the better route. Transparency is the value; the price usually follows.
Can you train our staff so this doesn't happen again?
Yes, and we do it by default on the way out. Half of repeat faults trace back to skipped daily cleaning or wrong routine, so the technician walks your team through what actually matters before leaving.
