Current-range espresso, busy

Expert La Spaziale S11 repair across Toronto and the GTA.

When the S11 on your bar stops holding temperature or the steam falls flat mid-service, the queue does not care that it is a current-range machine. We repair this La Spaziale at the counter: HX brew-temperature drift, a worn group gasket, a dripping steam wand, a pump losing pressure. Give us the symptom and the likely parts come along with the technician.

La Spaziale · Mid-volume traditional espresso

The S11.

The S11 sits in La Spaziale's current global range, a heat-exchanger traditional for cafés and hospitality. It runs the familiar HX hydraulics with an optional brew-boiler PID, manual steam wands, and a bring-your-own grinder, rated to around 270 shots a group. Operators choose it as a current, serviceable bar machine with a long parts horizon ahead of it. On the bench it follows the rest of the range: scale on the coil and probe, group and steam wear, and the occasional control fault.

Brew system & pressure 6 issues
!

Group head gasket weeping

A weeping portafilter gasket is routine wear. We fit a new gasket and dispersion screen, clean the threads, and reseat under brew pressure to confirm a dry seal.

!

Dispersion screen pitted

Baked-on coffee oil pits the screen and skews the spray pattern. We fit a new screen and backflush the group with detergent so water spreads evenly again.

!

Group solenoid sticking

Scale on the seat or a tiring coil makes the group solenoid stick. We test the coil, descale the valve, and rebuild the cartridge so it switches cleanly.

!

Brew pressure low

Low brew pressure is a worn pump, the expansion valve, or a clogged inlet screen. We gauge it from a blind portafilter and isolate the cause before quoting parts.

!

Pump hammering

Hammering is air in the line, a starved inlet, or a worn vane. We bleed the line, confirm the feed, and open the pump if the noise stays.

!

Pressure swing

A swinging boiler pressure is a worn pressurestat. We test it against a reference gauge and replace it once it's outside tolerance.

Water, boiler & heating 4 issues
!

Brew temperature unstable on HX

Scale in the HX coil or a drifting pressurestat moves brew temperature around. We descale the coil, verify the pressurestat, and confirm brew water temperature at the group with a Scace device.

!

Steam boiler slow to recover

Sluggish recovery is scale on the element or a drifting pressurestat. We descale, measure element resistance, verify the pressurestat against a gauge, and replace the part that's failing.

!

Water pooling under the machine

Standing water underneath is a seal, a cracked line, or a blocked drain. We pressure-test the circuit and trace the leak to its source before fixing it.

!

Boiler won't auto-fill

A no-fill is a failed solenoid, a scaled valve seat, or a misreading level probe, and the probe scales readily on an HX boiler. We meter it, descale the inlet, and replace whichever part won't come back.

Milk & steam 2 issues
!

Steam wand dripping

A worn cartridge keeps the wand dripping after close. We rebuild the valve, descale it, and verify the shut-off comes up dry.

!

Weak steam

Weak steam means the boiler isn't sitting at pressure. We descale the steam side and confirm it holds pressure under load.

Electronics, grinder & other 3 issues
!

Dose buttons drifting

Drifting doses come from buildup on the flow meter. We clean the meter, confirm it's pulsing, and reprogram the doses to target.

!

Display fault

A display or controller fault can trace back to a sensor, a relay, or the board itself. We read the stored fault history first, pin down the real cause, and fix that instead of throwing parts at it.

!

Older S11 generation with discontinued board

Earlier S11 generations stay on our books even when the original board is discontinued. We source one from refurbisher networks, or where that's dried up fit an equivalent that does the same job.

La Spaziale S11

FAQ

La Spaziale S11, frequently asked.

20 answers covering service, repair, parts, installation, warranty, and edge cases.

Updated July 2026

Is the S11 a current La Spaziale model, and do you service it?

Yes on both. The S11 is part of La Spaziale's current global range, and it is a regular on our bench. It runs the same heat-exchanger hydraulics as much of the lineup, so we know its faults and carry its common wear parts on the truck.

Why is the brew temperature drifting on my S11?

Scale in the HX coil or a drifting pressurestat moves brew temperature around on this heat-exchanger machine. We descale the coil, verify the pressurestat, and confirm brew water temperature at the group with a Scace device. Where the S11 has the brew-boiler PID option, we trim that as well.

The group on our S11 is weeping around the portafilter. Routine?

Routine wear, yes. The group gasket hardens over 12 to 18 months on a busy bar and starts to weep. We replace the gasket and dispersion screen, clean the threads, and reseat under brew pressure to confirm a dry seal.

Our S11 steam wand drips after we close it. Can you fix it?

Yes, that is a worn valve cartridge. We rebuild the valve, descale it, and verify the shut-off comes up dry. A dripping wand wastes steam and can spit water into milk, so it is worth catching early.

Why won't my S11 hold steam pressure?

Weak or swinging steam pressure is the boiler not sitting at setpoint, usually scale on the element or a worn mechanical pressurestat. We descale, measure the element, and test the pressurestat against a reference gauge, replacing it if it is out of tolerance since these do not rebuild reliably.

How often should an S11 be descaled?

It depends on water and volume, but on a busy bar in our harder-water areas we usually set a two to three month interval, with standard inline filtration and a softening cartridge where needed. The HX level probe and coil scale fastest, so descaling on schedule prevents most temperature and autofill faults. We check scale condition every visit.

Our S11 dose buttons are drifting. Can you reset them?

Yes. Drifting doses come from buildup on the flow meter rather than the programming. We clean the meter, confirm it is pulsing, and reprogram the doses to target. A failed meter gets swapped during the same visit.

Will the S11 stay serviceable for years, given it is current?

It should. La Spaziale keeps parts in the catalogue a long time, and the S11 is a current model, so the parts horizon ahead of it is long. We service older generations too, and where an original board is discontinued we source from refurbisher networks or fit a tested equivalent.

How much does a repair visit cost?

Flat rate for the visit, parts billed at their actual cost on top. You'll hear the rate when you book, and for bigger jobs we quote in writing on-site before any work starts. No estimate that balloons mid-job.

How fast can you get here?

Same-day in most cases. Call in the morning and a technician is usually on-site before the day is out; calls placed later in the day book for the next morning. Urgent breakdowns get priority routing.

Which areas do you cover?

The GTA and most of the Golden Horseshoe: Toronto through Mississauga, Vaughan, and Markham, out to Oshawa, Hamilton, and Niagara. If you're not sure you're in range, call and we'll tell you straight.

Do I need a service contract?

No. We work call by call. Plenty of customers put us on a maintenance schedule eventually, but that's their choice after seeing the work, never a requirement.

Are the repairs warrantied?

Parts carry their manufacturer warranty, and we stand behind our labour: if the same fault recurs, call us and we'll review it. Specific terms are discussed upfront on each job, not promised in marketing copy.

Do you repair on-site or take the machine away?

On-site whenever possible, which is most of the time. If a job genuinely needs the bench, like a full boiler rebuild or major electronics work, we'll say so before anything leaves your building.

How do I book a service call?

Call us or send the form on this page. We confirm the machine, the fault, and a time window the same day. If it's urgent, say so and we'll route the nearest technician.

What happens on the first visit?

Diagnosis first: we confirm the fault, tell you what caused it, and quote the fix before touching a wrench. Most repairs finish in that same visit because the common wear parts ride on the truck.

Do you carry parts or order them in?

High-wear parts for the platforms we service constantly ride on the truck. Anything else we order, usually next-day where suppliers allow, and we tell you the lead time before committing you to anything.

My machine is older or out of production. Will you still look at it?

Usually, yes. We service legacy machines for as long as parts can be sourced, and we're honest when a repair stops making financial sense against a replacement. You get the math, you make the call.

Are you cheaper than the manufacturer's service network?

Often, but that's not the pitch. We quote against the actual work, not a factory pricing book, and we'll tell you when a manufacturer warranty claim is the better route. Transparency is the value; the price usually follows.

Can you train our staff so this doesn't happen again?

Yes, and we do it by default on the way out. Half of repeat faults trace back to skipped daily cleaning or wrong routine, so the technician walks your team through what actually matters before leaving.
