Necta · Current coffee vending machine

The Krea Prime.

The Krea Prime is a direct-selection coffee-vending Necta, a keypad machine for OCS routes rated near 500 cups a day. With no touchscreen to fail, its life is mechanical and electrical: the Z4000 brewer, the grinders, the payment bus, and the canisters do the work and take the wear. On the bench that means brew-group service, grinder calibration, coin and cashless reader faults, and the grout-counter and no-water lockouts that stop a route machine cold.

Typical useMid-volume offices, OCS routes, hospitality back-of-house, smaller self-service
CapacityUp to 500 cups
Milk systemFresh-milk module or soluble canister depending on trim
GrindersSingle or twin grinders, 3 kg bean hopper, up to 4 soluble canisters

Krea Prime faults we diagnose

What goes wrong on the Krea Prime, and the fixes.

These are the Krea Prime faults we meet on OCS routes, with what causes each one and how we clear it on-site.

Brew system & pressure 3 issues
!

Z4000 brewer jam or stuck mid-cycle

Grind buildup on the cam path, worn brew-piston seals, or a home-position microswitch that has drifted after high-cycle service. We pull the Z4000, clean every wear surface, fit fresh seals and the upper screen, confirm the microswitch actuates, and regrease the cam paths. On Pro Touch trims we also check the self-adjusting blades.

!

Grounds in the cup or weak espresso

A torn brew screen, a worn piston seal, or grind drift on the time-based trims. We inspect both screens, replace any that are torn, fit a new piston seal, and recalibrate against a target dose weight until the cup comes back.

!

Grout-bin counter blocking dispense

The machine locks out once the grout counter reaches its limit, empty bin or not. We confirm the bin is seated, check the microswitch reads its position, and reset the counter through the service menu, replacing the switch if the contact is intermittent.

Electronics, grinder & other 4 issues
!

Dose drift or twin-grinder calibration mismatch

On twin-grinder trims the two burrs wear at different rates and the doses stop agreeing. We weigh the dose across ten reference shots from each hopper, measure the burr gaps, recalibrate the grind time or the Pro Touch self-adjusting calibration, and replace burrs where the numbers call for it.

!

Mixer canister clogging or overnight clean abort

Soluble residue at the mixer whisk on the multi-canister setup, or a level-sensor fault on the cleaning circuit. We strip and clean the mixer assembly, clear the discharge tube, read the service log to find where the overnight cycle stalls, verify detergent dosing, and replace the level sensor if it is intermittent.

!

Touch / Pro Touch screen unresponsive or controller in boot loop

A firmware hang, a failed digitizer, moisture under the bezel, or corrupted firmware after a power interruption. We run a controlled reset, check the firmware version, inspect the bezel seal, reflash from a known-good image, and replace the display module or supply board only if the hardware has actually failed.

!

Fresh-milk weak foam, cold milk, or off-taste

Protein buildup in the air-intake bore, a worn impeller, a failing temperature sensor, or a skipped daily clean. We strip and sanitize the milk module, pressure-test the suction line, replace the impeller or sensor as needed, and reset the daily clean protocol with your staff.

Don't see your issue? Call (289) 217-3796 with a description of what's happening and any error codes on screen. We'll likely diagnose it before we arrive. And if the same fault keeps returning, that's scale at work. The right Necta water filter ends the repeat visits.

FAQ

Necta Krea Prime, frequently asked.

20 answers covering service, repair, parts, installation, warranty, and edge cases.

Updated August 2026

What makes the Krea Prime a vending machine rather than an office unit?

It is built for direct-selection coffee vending on OCS routes, with a keypad rather than a touchscreen and the payment and reliability focus that unattended sites need. It pours up to around 500 cups a day. The Krea Touch is the same idea with a touchscreen for self-serve ordering.

Our Krea Prime's coin and card reader stopped working. Fixable?

Usually it is the connection before it is the board. We reseat the MDB harness, check the bus voltage, and test the handshake with a known-good coin, card, or contactless reader. Only when the bus signal is confirmed bad do we replace the payment board, so you are not paying for parts the fault does not need.

Does the Krea Prime having no touchscreen make it more reliable?

In one sense, yes, there is no display to freeze or crack. The flip side is that its faults are mechanical and electrical: the Z4000 brewer, the grinders, the payment bus, and the canisters. Those are exactly the parts we keep on the truck, so a route machine does not sit dead for long.

The Krea Prime keeps locking out with a no-water error. Why?

Scale is the usual cause on a route machine, not the building supply. A scaled inlet valve, a stuck solenoid, or a fouled flow meter all read as no water. We check pressure, clean the strainer and flow-meter turbine, and replace the solenoid or pump only if the output is genuinely low.

Our Krea Prime brewer jammed on the route. Big job?

Rarely. After a stretch of unattended cycles the Z4000 packs with grounds and the seals dry out, and it stalls. We pull the brewer, clean the cam path and chamber, fit fresh seals and the upper screen, verify the home microswitch, and regrease it. It is standard route work, usually one visit.

The grinder dose on our Krea Prime has drifted. Can you recalibrate?

Yes. Time-based dosing means worn burrs slowly change the dose, so shots get weak or inconsistent. We weigh the dose over several reference shots, measure the burr gap, recalibrate the grind time against the target, and replace burrs if they are past spec. The route goes back to a consistent cup.

Can you keep older Krea machines on a route running?

Yes, that is a lot of what we do. The Z4000 brewer parts are still in production, which covers the critical items, and we source the rest from refurbisher stock and donor units. When a repair stops paying for itself against a replacement on the route, we will say so plainly.

Our Krea Prime won't dispense though the waste bin is empty. What's that?

The grout-bin counter has hit its limit and locked the machine, which it does regardless of whether the bin is actually full. We reseat the bin, confirm the microswitch reads it, and reset the counter through the service menu. If the switch contact is intermittent, we replace it on the spot.

How much does a repair visit cost?

Flat rate for the visit, parts billed at their actual cost on top. You'll hear the rate when you book, and for bigger jobs we quote in writing on-site before any work starts. No estimate that balloons mid-job.

How fast can you get here?

Same-day. Call in the morning and a technician is usually on-site before the day is out; calls placed later in the day book for the next morning. Urgent breakdowns get priority routing.

Which areas do you cover?

The GTA and most of the Golden Horseshoe: Toronto through Mississauga, Vaughan, and Markham, out to Oshawa, Hamilton, and Niagara. If you're not sure you're in range, call and we'll tell you straight.

Do I need a service contract?

No. We work call by call. Plenty of customers put us on a maintenance schedule eventually, but that's their choice after seeing the work, never a requirement.

Are the repairs warrantied?

Parts carry their manufacturer warranty, and we stand behind our labour: if the same fault recurs, call us and we'll review it. Specific terms are discussed upfront on each job, not promised in marketing copy.

Do you repair on-site or take the machine away?

On-site whenever possible, which is most of the time. If a job genuinely needs the bench, like a full boiler rebuild or major electronics work, we'll say so before anything leaves your building.

How do I book a service call?

Call us or send the form on this page. We confirm the machine, the fault, and a time window the same day. If it's urgent, say so and we'll route the nearest technician.

What happens on the first visit?

Diagnosis first: we confirm the fault, tell you what caused it, and quote the fix before touching a wrench. Most repairs finish in that same visit because the common wear parts ride on the truck.

Do you carry parts or order them in?

High-wear parts for the platforms we service constantly ride on the truck. Anything else we order, usually next-day where suppliers allow, and we tell you the lead time before committing you to anything.

My machine is older or out of production. Will you still look at it?

Usually, yes. We service legacy machines for as long as parts can be sourced, and we're honest when a repair stops making financial sense against a replacement. You get the math, you make the call.

Are you cheaper than the manufacturer's service network?

Often, but that's not the pitch. We quote against the actual work, not a factory pricing book, and we'll tell you when a manufacturer warranty claim is the better route. Transparency is the value; the price usually follows.

Can you train our staff so this doesn't happen again?

Yes, and we do it by default on the way out. Half of repeat faults trace back to skipped daily cleaning or wrong routine, so the technician walks your team through what actually matters before leaving.
