When the FreshPack station stops

Fast, expert Flavia coffee machine repair across the GTA.

The Flavia in the break room picks the busiest morning to quit. We repair the whole Creation range, the small-office Creation 200, the café-style Creation 300, the larger Creation 500, and the connected Creation 600, plus older Mars Drinks stations still pouring. A FreshPack that won't load, a pack that pierces but barely brews, froth gone flat, a heater off temperature, a screen that won't respond: tell us the model and the symptom, and the likely parts ride along on the first visit.

Flavia commercial coffee machine, serviced and repaired by Grajqevci in Toronto and the GTA.
Flavia commercial coffee machine logo.

FreshPack workplace drinks, kept pouring.

Flavia builds single-serve FreshPack stations for the workplace, not espresso machines. Every drink brews from a sealed foil pack the machine grips, pierces, and brews through, and milk-style drinks froth in the cup, so one station pours coffee, tea, and a latte with no flavour transfer. The range runs from the small Creation 200 to the connected Creation 600. From the bench they're tidy machines: the pierce needle, the pack carrier, the froth nozzle, and the heater wear first, and scale on the local water shortens their life.

Flavia faults we diagnose

Common Flavia issues, and how we fix them.

These are the Flavia faults that actually book service calls, from jammed FreshPacks and dull pierce needles to weak froth and scaled heaters, with the cause and the fix for each.

Water, boiler & heating 4 issues
!

Drinks lukewarm or slow to heat

Scale insulating the heater is the leading cause on GTA tap water, followed by a degraded heating element or a drifting temperature sensor. We descale the heated-water system, test the element, replace it if heat-up time and drink temperature don't recover to spec, and check the sensor reading.

!

Add-water or low-water message that won't clear (pour-over tank)

On tank-fed stations this is usually a scaled or stuck level sensor, an air-locked tank, or debris on the float. We clean and test the level sensor, clear the tank and inlet, descale if scale is holding the reading, and confirm the message clears on a full tank.

!

Plumb-in station not filling or running dry (Creation 300 and up)

A closed or restricted supply, an exhausted inline filter, a stuck fill solenoid, or a scaled inlet. We verify the supply and filter, test the solenoid, descale the inlet, and confirm the station fills and holds level on a plumbed feed.

!

Water pooling under or around the machine

A weeping inlet fitting, a cracked internal hose, a failed seal in the brew path, or a drip tray overflowing past a blocked drain. We pressure-test the water path, trace the leak to its exact point, replace the failing part rather than just retighten it, and check the drip-tray drainage.

Electronics, grinder & other 11 issues
!

FreshPack jamming or not loading into the brew chamber

The pack carrier, the gripper, or the home-position sensor is the usual cause, often after a torn pack left foil or grounds in the path. We strip the brewer mechanism, clear the chamber, clean and inspect the carrier and gripper, replace worn parts, and cycle the brewer until packs load and eject cleanly every time.

!

Pack not piercing cleanly, weak or partial brew

A dull or bent pierce needle, a blocked needle, or a worn seal around the pierce point. We inspect the pierce assembly, clear or replace the needles, fit fresh seals, and verify a clean pierce and a full-strength brew against the drink target before we leave.

!

Brewer stuck mid-cycle or won't return home

Grounds buildup on the drive, a worn drive cam or motor, or a position sensor that has stopped reading. We pull the mechanism, clean every wear surface, replace the worn drive part, and confirm the brewer homes reliably across repeated cycles.

!

Weak or no froth on latte and cappuccino-style drinks

The in-cup froth path froths from the FreshPack, so weak foam usually means a blocked or scaled froth nozzle, a worn air-intake path, or low water temperature feeding the drink. We clear and descale the froth path, check the air intake, confirm brew temperature, and verify foam quality across the milk-style drinks.

!

Drip-tray-full alert or overflow

On a station with a drip tray rather than a plumbed drain, a full or misread tray stops dispensing. We empty and reseat the tray, clean and test the tray sensor, clear any blockage in the drip path, and on plumbed installs check the drain line is clear and falling correctly.

!

Touchscreen or control panel frozen or unresponsive

A firmware hang or a fault in the touch panel or its connector. We power-cycle, check firmware, reseat or reflash where the panel has hung, and replace the display or control board only if the hardware itself has failed. Drink selection is tested across the menu before we close up.

!

Error or service message on the display

We read the message, identify whether it points to the brewer, the heater, a sensor, or the board, and fix the specific part it names. The condition is cleared and the station is functionally tested across the drink menu before we sign off.

!

FLAVIA IQ connectivity dropping or not reporting (Creation 600)

Site network drift after a router change, a comms module fault, or a sensor not reporting to the controller. We verify network settings, reset the FLAVIA IQ telemetry stack, test the signal, and replace the module if the hardware is at fault, so smart brewing and reporting come back reliably.

!

Descale or service reminder elapsed

The maintenance counter has timed out. It is not a failure, but the machine flags it because scale is the biggest long-term killer of the heater and froth path on this region's water. We run a full descale, service the brew and froth path, reset the counter, and check the water setup so the interval is realistic for your volume.

!

Used FreshPacks not ejecting into the bin

A jammed eject path, a full or misplaced pack bin, or a worn eject lever. We clear the eject path, check the bin seats correctly, replace the worn lever, and confirm spent packs drop cleanly so the next brew isn't blocked.

!

Older Flavia or Mars Drinks station needing discontinued parts

We keep older Flavia and legacy Mars Drinks stations running after other shops have moved on. Parts no longer in production come from refurbisher networks, documented donor units, and validated equivalents for seals, needles, and sensors. When a repair stops making sense against the machine's value, we tell you straight.

Don't see your issue? Call (289) 217-3796 with a description of what's happening and any error codes on screen. We'll likely diagnose it before we arrive. And if the same fault keeps returning, that's scale at work. The right Flavia water filter ends the repeat visits.

It comes from a pack

The drink is sealed. The water behind it isn't.

Flavia machines sit in workplace kitchens, healthcare break rooms and hospitality points across the region. The pack takes care of the coffee, but everything behind it runs on whatever your building supplies. Pick your city.

Updated August 2026

Do you actually service Flavia machines across the GTA?

Yes. Flavia is a core part of what we service across GTA offices, workplaces, healthcare break rooms, and hospitality service points. The FreshPack Creation range, the Creation 200, 300, 500, and the connected Creation 600, are stations we work on and install regularly. The coverage list further down the page shows every zone we cover.

Do you install new Flavia stations, not just repair them?

Yes, and it's a big part of the Flavia work we do. We site the station, connect the water (a plumb-in kit from the Creation 300 up, or a pour-over tank on the smaller units), sort drainage, and plug it into a standard outlet, which is all most stations need electrically. We set up the FreshPack menu and train your team before we leave so the machine actually gets used the way it should.

What's the most common Flavia repair you see?

FreshPack jams and pierce faults, then scale. A torn pack leaves foil in the brew path, a pierce needle dulls and stops piercing cleanly, or scale on this region's water drifts the heater off temperature and clogs the froth path. Most first visits are clearing and servicing the brewer mechanism plus a descale, then whatever the scale has already worn.

Does a Flavia need special plumbing or electrical to install?

Usually not much. Most Flavia stations run on a standard outlet, so there's no dedicated circuit to arrange for the common installs. The smaller Creation units fill from a pour-over tank and need only a counter, while the Creation 300 and up can take a plumb-in kit off the building water supply for higher volume. We tell you exactly what each option needs before we quote.

What's the difference between a pour-over and a plumb-in Flavia?

A pour-over station fills from an internal tank you top up, so it needs only a counter and an outlet, which suits smaller offices. A plumb-in station feeds from the building water line through a fill kit, so it doesn't need topping up and handles higher volume, available from the Creation 300 up. We can install either, and we'll spec the one that fits your floor and your water.

My Flavia drinks are coming out lukewarm. Is that fixable?

Almost always. Lukewarm drinks usually mean scale insulating the heater, an aging heating element, or a drifting temperature sensor. We descale the heated-water system, test the element, check the sensor, and replace the element only if drink temperature doesn't come back to spec. On this region's water, scale is the first suspect.

The froth on my lattes has gone weak. What causes that on a Flavia?

Flavia froths in the cup from the FreshPack rather than from a steam wand, so weak foam usually traces to a blocked or scaled froth nozzle, a worn air path, or water that isn't hot enough. We clear and descale the froth path, check the air intake, confirm brew temperature, and verify foam across the milk-style drinks before we sign off.

Are you authorized by Flavia or Lavazza Professional?

No. We're an independent commercial coffee equipment specialist, and we'd rather say that plainly. It means we work on out-of-warranty stations, keep older Flavia and Mars Drinks units running after the dealer network moves on, and quote against the actual job instead of a manufacturer pricing book.

Can you fix a FLAVIA IQ connectivity problem on the Creation 600?

Yes. FLAVIA IQ on the Creation 600 reports brewing and telemetry over the network, and it drops out after a router change, a comms module fault, or a sensor that's stopped reporting. We verify the network settings, reset the FLAVIA IQ stack, test the signal, and replace the module if the hardware is at fault so smart brewing and reporting come back.

How does pricing work for a Flavia repair?

Flat rate for the visit and diagnosis, which you hear when you book, with parts billed on top at their actual cost. For anything larger, a brewer mechanism rebuild or a heater, you get a written quote on-site before we start. There's no meter running while we figure out the fault.

What Flavia parts do you carry on the van?

The parts the fault statistics call for: pierce needles and pierce seals, brew-path and froth-path seals, level sensors, and common drip-tray and brewer-mechanism parts. That covers most calls in a single trip. Heaters, control boards, and comms modules are ordered per machine, usually within a business day or two.

How fast can a Flavia technician actually get on-site?

Same-day when you call in the morning, with later calls usually booked for the next business day. A workplace with a dead station and a full floor gets priority routing. Tell us the model and the symptom when you book and the van leaves with the likely parts already loaded.

My FreshPacks keep jamming. Is that the machine or the packs?

Usually the machine, once the brewer mechanism has worn. A pack carrier, gripper, or eject path that's worn or fouled with foil and grounds will jam even fresh packs. We strip and clean the mechanism, replace the worn parts, and cycle it until packs load, brew, and eject cleanly every time. If it turns out to be storage or handling, we'll tell you that honestly.

Can you service older or discontinued Flavia and Mars Drinks stations?

Yes. We keep older Flavia and legacy Mars Drinks stations running with parts from refurbisher networks, documented donor units, and validated equivalents for seals, needles, and sensors. When a repair stops making financial sense against the machine's value, we say so.

Do you set up scheduled maintenance for Flavia stations?

Yes, and most workplaces move to one after the first visit. A regular descale and a brewer-and-froth-path service on a station pouring all day heads off the jams and weak drinks that frustrate the floor. We build the interval around your volume and water, not a generic calendar.

Do I have to sign a service contract?

No. We work call by call, and the maintenance schedule is there if you want it, never a condition of getting help. Most operators put us on a routine because they've seen the work, not because they were locked into anything.

Can you handle water filtration for Flavia machines?

Yes, and on this region's water it matters. Scale is the biggest long-term killer of the Flavia heater and froth path here. On tank-fed stations the answer is descale discipline; on plumb-in Creation installs we fit and size the right upstream cartridge for your volume. A proper water setup pays for itself in heater and froth-path life.

We run Flavia stations across several sites. How does that work?

One booking can cover every site, with a single report listing what was done to each station. Multi-site operators also benefit from pattern-spotting: when the same fault shows up across several floors, the cause is usually the water or the FreshPack handling rather than the machines, and that's cheaper to fix once.

Will you train our team on Flavia daily care?

Yes, and we do it on the way out by default. A lot of repeat faults trace back to packs loaded wrong, a bin left full, or descaling skipped, so the technician walks your team through daily care and the basics before leaving. It's the cheapest repair there is.

How do I prepare for a Flavia service call?

Have the model and any on-screen message ready, and clear access around the station if you can. If the fault is intermittent, a quick note of when it happens helps us a lot. Leave it powered unless there's water on the floor or a tripped breaker, in which case shut it off and tell us when you book.

About Flavia

Reviewed August 2026

Flavia, in brief.

Flavia is a workplace single-serve coffee and tea system built around sealed FreshPacks and patented in-cup frothing. Originally launched by Mars Drinks in the US, it now trades as Flavia by Lavazza Professional, and its current Creation range serves coffee, tea, lattes, and cold drinks from one compact station.

Mars Drinks heritage, Lavazza Professional today

Flavia began as a workplace brand of Mars, Incorporated, sold through Mars Drinks for the office and break-room market. In 2018 the Mars Drinks business, Flavia included, joined Lavazza under the Lavazza Professional arm. The system stayed the same: sealed FreshPacks, in-cup frothing, and a compact brewer sized for the workplace rather than the café bar.

The FreshPack system, not beans or pods

Flavia does not grind beans and does not use a pierced plastic pod. Each drink brews from a foil FreshPack that the machine grips, pierces, and brews through, then discards. Because the water path never touches the pack contents directly and milk-style and chocolate drinks froth inside the cup, one machine can pour black coffee, tea, a latte, and a hot chocolate back to back with no flavour transfer between them. That is the trade the workplace makes: less barista control than a bean-to-cup machine, far less cleaning and cross-contamination.

The Creation range, small office to connected flagship

The current Creation line scales with headcount. The Creation 200 is the entry single-serve station for small offices, the Creation 300 is a café-style midsize unit with a colour touchscreen and roughly fourteen hot and cold drinks, and the Creation 500 steps up for larger and collaborative spaces with customizable drink volumes. The flagship Creation 600 adds FLAVIA IQ connectivity for smart brewing and telemetry, and is the fastest of the range. The compact Creation 150 sits below them for the smallest break rooms, and the AROMA pour-over brewer covers the lightest single-cup use.

Pour-over or plumb-in, in-cup frothing

Smaller Creation stations run from an internal pour-over tank, so they need only a counter and a standard outlet. From the Creation 300 up, a plumb-in kit can feed the machine from the building water supply for higher volume and less topping up. Frothing happens in the cup from the FreshPack rather than from a steam wand or a milk fridge, so there is no boiler-and-wand steam circuit and no daily milk-line sanitation in the espresso-machine sense. The heated-water system, the brew chamber, and the froth path are where the service work lives.

Why a FreshPack station still needs a specialist

A Flavia looks simple from the front, but the pierce-and-brew mechanism, the drip path, the heating system, and on the Creation 600 the FLAVIA IQ electronics all wear and fault in ways a generalist appliance technician will not read off the panel. A pack that jams, a needle that stops piercing cleanly, a heater that drifts off temperature, or a froth path that has gone weak each trace to a specific part. We work these stations across the GTA, and we install them too: siting, water connection, FreshPack menu setup, and training the people who use them.

Your Flavia deserves a specialist.
