Techs who know the water

Hamilton's La Marzocco repair specialists.

A city rebuilt on independent coffee runs more La Marzocco machines than its size suggests, from the roaster bars on James Street North to the brunch rooms in Dundas and Westdale. They scale faster here than almost anywhere we go, so our service leans hard on the boilers: descales sized to genuinely hard water, elements measured, sensors checked, before the group and steam work. A softener usually comes up.

La Marzocco faults we diagnose

Common La Marzocco issues we fix in Hamilton.

Every issue below comes with a description of what causes it and what we do to resolve it. If yours isn't listed, call us anyway.

Water, boiler & heating 3 issues
!

Dual-boiler temperature offset drifting between brew and steam

Scale builds on the brew element over 12 to 18 months, the PID compensates the wrong way, and brew temperature wanders. Each boiler is measured against a calibrated reference probe, both circuits descaled, the PID offset recalibrated in the service menu, and brew stability confirmed within 0.5 C across a 10-shot run.

!

Brew boiler element degraded or scaling out

Local water is hard enough that brew elements scale past spec, and it shows most on Linea PB and KB90 machines running without a maintained softener. We test element resistance against the temperature reference table, fully descale the brew boiler if it can be saved, and fit a new element if it is drawing low. The boiler gets pressure-tested before it goes back into service.

!

Water leak from under the machine, source not obvious

On La Marzocco the usual suspects are the cup warmer drain, a fitting on the boiler manifold, or a hairline crack in a scale-weakened brass elbow. We pressure-test the boiler, dry the chassis completely, and run a dye trace to pin the leak point. Fittings are re-flared or replaced rather than just nipped up.

Electronics, grinder & other 3 issues
!

PID display drifting or showing erratic temperature

This points to either a failing NTC temperature sensor or a controller board with contacts corroded by steam migration. We test the NTC against the resistance table at known reference temperatures, reseat or replace the connector, and fit a new sensor if it reads out of spec. Drift that survives a sensor swap means a board fault, which we quote separately.

!

Volumetric dose programming drifting on Linea PB AV

Mineral deposit coats the flow meter pulse wheels, the count goes inconsistent, and the controller reads that as dose drift. We pull the flow meters, clean the impellers, refit them, and reprogram every dose against a target volume by weight. A flow meter that is actually damaged gets swapped before recalibration.

!

Legacy Linea Classic or FB80 needing parts no longer in production

We keep legacy La Marzocco machines going after other shops have stopped supporting them. Original-spec parts come from refurbisher networks, decommissioned units we have documented, or validated equivalent gicleurs, OPVs, and gaskets. If a Linea Classic reaches the point where the repair stops paying for itself, we say so plainly instead of stacking on labour.

Brew system & pressure 5 issues
!

Saturated brew group leaking from the group gasket

Thousands of portafilter lock-ups eventually compress the group gasket, and the tell is a drip down the diffuser or steam hissing out during pre-infusion. We back-flush the group, take out the dispersion screen and screw, fit a fresh gasket, grease the portafilter ears with food-safe lubricant, and pull several test shots to confirm the seal holds clean.

!

Dispersion screen clogged or producing channeling

Coffee oils and fines cake the back of the screen and break up the even water flow over the puck, so you get channeling and shots that won't repeat. The screen comes out for a cafiza soak and a hole-by-hole scrub, we inspect the screw and the group face for buildup, then reassemble. A dimpled or corroded screen gets swapped on the spot rather than nursed along.

!

Pre-infusion not engaging or paddle/lever unresponsive on Strada

The usual culprit is a pre-infusion solenoid that has stuck or a worn paddle encoder on Strada MP groups. We bench-test the solenoid actuation, replace the coil or the full valve where needed, and verify the pre-infusion pressure curve on a portafilter gauge. A paddle encoder that has lost feedback is replaced as a unit.

!

Brew pressure drifting low across all groups

When pressure sags on every group at once, the cause is almost typically rotary pump wear or a drifted OPV bypass. We gauge brew pressure right at the portafilter, set the OPV back to 9 bar, and replace the pump if output stays below spec under load. On Strada machines with a pump per group, each gear pump is tested on its own.

!

Gicleur clogged producing slow or weak pour on one group

The gicleur is the small flow restrictor feeding each group, and it partly blocks when scale or coffee fines are drawn back through. Out it comes for an ultrasonic clean, we check the expansion valve sitting behind it, and replace the part if the orifice has eroded. Flow rate is verified shot to shot before we pack up.

Milk & steam 2 issues
!

Steam wand dripping or weak steam pressure

Two faults tend to travel together here: a worn steam valve cartridge and scale in the steam circuit. We rebuild the valve with a new cartridge kit, descale the pathway and the tip, confirm steam pressure on the boiler gauge, and check that the knob or joystick feel is back to spec. Cool-touch wands get an insulation check afterward.

!

Joystick steam control sloppy or sticking on KB90/GB5 X

High-volume use wears the joystick pivot bushing, so the lever starts catching mid-throw or returning slowly. The assembly comes apart for new bushings and seals, the linkage is lubricated, and we verify clean on-off-on actuation. If the microvalve underneath is leaking past, it is rebuilt in the same visit.

Don't see your issue? Call (289) 217-3796 with a description of what's happening and any error codes on screen. We'll likely diagnose it before we arrive. And if the same fault keeps returning, that's scale at work. The right La Marzocco water filter ends the repeat visits.

La Marzocco service in Hamilton, frequently asked.

Updated August 2026

Do you service La Marzocco machines in Hamilton?

Hamilton is one of our regular La Marzocco service routes. The full lineup is in scope, legacy and discontinued platforms included. And because we're independent of La Marzocco (no affiliation, no authorization claim), machines outside the manufacturer's service network are no problem.

Which business districts in Hamilton do you service most often?

Most of our Hamilton La Marzocco call volume comes out of Downtown Hamilton core, Stoney Creek industrial area, Ancaster Business Park, McMaster Innovation Park. Office cafeterias, hotel programs, and restaurant operators in these clusters keep a steady rotation running through Hamilton.

Do you work weekends or evenings in Hamilton?

Yes, on a priority basis. Weekend and evening Hamilton calls carry a small premium to cover technician availability, quoted upfront. Hospitality customers lean on this most, and we accommodate where we can.

Do your technicians carry La Marzocco parts on the truck?

For the La Marzocco parts we replace most often, yes. Seals, gaskets, milk system components, common solenoids, and basic sensors travel with the technician. Specialty parts (specific control boards, full brew unit assemblies) get sourced overnight.

What if my La Marzocco is out of warranty?

Out-of-warranty is the normal state for the La Marzocco machines we service in Hamilton. The process doesn't change: real on-site diagnostic, genuine parts on the engineered components, flat rate for the visit, parts billed separately.

What if my La Marzocco is still under manufacturer warranty?

If your La Marzocco is under warranty, contact the manufacturer's authorized network first, since independent service can affect coverage. If they're slow or refuse the claim, call us. You'll get the same approach as any other call: flat rate for the visit, parts billed separately.

How fast can you get to a La Marzocco call in Hamilton?

Most Hamilton La Marzocco calls are answered same day or next business day. Urgent calls placed before noon usually get same-day on-site response. When you book, we lock in an arrival window and text you when the technician is en route.

How are La Marzocco repairs billed on Hamilton calls?

Simply. One flat rate for the visit, parts itemized at their actual cost, and no estimate that balloons mid-job. The invoice reflects what the work actually took.

Do you offer preventive maintenance for La Marzocco in Hamilton?

Yes. Maintenance plans are tuned to your machine's daily volume: quarterly visits for high-volume machines, semi-annual for lighter use. Each visit covers descaling, brew unit overhaul, milk system sanitation, and calibration. No contract lock-in.

Can you help with water filtration in Hamilton?

Yes. Water hardness decides how often your La Marzocco needs descaling and how long the boiler element lasts. Hard to very hard, 140 to 180 mg/L CaCO3 typical from the Hamilton municipal supply (Lake Ontario sourced via the Woodward water treatment plant on Hamilton Harbour) We test on-site, spec the right filtration for your hardness and volume, and install or service it as part of regular maintenance.

How does payment and invoicing work for Hamilton businesses?

Net billing terms against a monthly statement are standard for Hamilton business accounts. E-transfer, cheque, ACH, and credit card all work. New customers usually get invoiced on completion of the first job, and multi-site hospitality accounts can request consolidated monthly billing.

Do you offer same-day emergency repair in Hamilton?

We aim for same-day on-site response on most Hamilton calls, schedule permitting. If the fault needs a part not on the truck, we complete the diagnostic and return the next business day with the right component.

Do Hamilton hospitality customers get priority?

Yes. Hotels, restaurants, and QSR operators in Hamilton get front-of-queue dispatch and a dedicated point of contact. Scheduled maintenance runs during your low-traffic hours, emergency dispatch covers anything that breaks mid-service, and invoicing is on net terms with monthly statements.

Can you service older or discontinued La Marzocco models?

Yes. Legacy La Marzocco machines other shops won't touch are regular work for us. Out-of-production parts come from refurbisher networks, salvage from decommissioned units, or quality-matched aftermarket equivalents. And if a repair stops being economical, we tell you straight.

Can you service multiple La Marzocco machines in one visit?

Yes, and bundling is actually cheaper per machine. Hamilton office buildings with multi-floor cafeterias, hotel groups with several properties, and restaurant groups all run this way. Give us the count and locations when you book and we'll quote it as a single visit.

Which Hamilton neighborhoods do you cover?

We cover Hamilton broadly, with regular service in Downtown Hamilton, Westdale, Dundas, Ancaster, Stoney Creek, Waterdown, and other neighborhoods on request. At the edge of Hamilton and not sure? Call with your postal code and we'll tell you straight.

Do I have to sign a maintenance contract?

No. A contract is never a precondition for service. Scheduled maintenance pays for itself in machine life, which is why we offer it, but plenty of customers only call when something breaks. Either way works.

Do you use genuine OEM La Marzocco parts?

For the parts where it matters, yes: brew units, electronic boards, sensors, pumps, motors. For commodity items like O-rings and tubing, industry-standard parts that meet or exceed OEM spec sometimes get your machine running sooner, and we use those when they do. The choice shows on the invoice.

Can you train Hamilton staff after a La Marzocco installation?

Yes, staff training is part of every installation in Hamilton. We walk the operator team through daily cleaning, basic troubleshooting, drink profile programming, and the early warning signs of the common faults. Refresher sessions are available on request.

When is replacing the machine cheaper than repairing it?

Rule of thumb: when the repair quote crosses 50% of a refurbished replacement, or when more than one major subsystem (brew unit, boiler, control board) is failing on a 10-plus-year-old high-use machine. We tell you the moment you've hit that line.

How does La Marzocco service pricing work in Hamilton?

The same in Hamilton as everywhere else: flat rate for the visit, parts billed separately. Smaller repairs just get invoiced after the work. Bigger jobs get a written quote on-site before any major work begins.

Are you authorized or certified by La Marzocco?

We're not authorized or certified by La Marzocco, and we'd rather say that plainly than fake credentials. We're independent. What you're paying for is platform expertise (we work on La Marzocco constantly) plus the transparency and flexibility an independent shop can offer.

Can you install a new La Marzocco machine in Hamilton?

Yes, site survey through commissioning, end to end. We assess power and water, spec the right filtration, run the plumbing and electrical hookup, calibrate every drink profile, and train your staff before sign-off. Multi-unit rollouts across Hamilton get coordinated scheduling.
