La Marzocco · Volumetric Strada with modern aesthetic

The Strada S.

The Strada S is the volumetric, profiling-free trim of the new-generation Strada. It keeps the modern Strada X aesthetic and the multi-boiler chassis but runs a straightforward volumetric workflow instead of full electronic pressure profiling, rated to about 350 shots a day. Specialty cafes and hospitality bars choose it for that clean, no-fuss approach. On the bench it is the more serviceable of the new Stradas: group gaskets, gicleurs, per-group boiler and pump work, steam valves, and volumetric dose calibration cover most of it.

Strada S faults we diagnose

Common Strada S faults, and how we fix them.

Below are the Strada S faults we meet on real service calls, with the cause of each and what we do at the machine.

Brew system & pressure 2 issues
!

Saturated brew group gasket leak

The group gasket weeps once the lock-ups add up. We back-flush, replace the gasket and dispersion screen, and confirm a clean seal over several test shots.

!

Brew pressure low

Rotary pump wear or OPV drift. We measure at the portafilter, reset the OPV to 9 bar, and replace the pump if it reads below spec.

Electronics, grinder & other 3 issues
!

Volumetric dose drift

A mineralized flow meter pulses unevenly. We clean it and reprogram the doses by weight.

!

Per-group brew boiler PID drift

Scale on the element or a drifting NTC moves the group off temperature. We descale, test the sensor, and recalibrate the PID against a reference probe.

!

Steam wand dripping

A tired steam valve cartridge. We rebuild it with a fresh kit and descale the tip.

Don't see your issue? Call (289) 217-3796 with a description of what's happening and any error codes on screen. We'll likely diagnose it before we arrive. And if the same fault keeps returning, that's scale at work. The right La Marzocco water filter ends the repeat visits.

Updated August 2026

How is the Strada S different from the Strada X to repair?

The S drops the full electronic pressure profiling, so there is no per-group profiling chain to diagnose. It keeps the multi-boiler chassis and volumetric workflow, which makes it the simpler and more serviceable of the two new Stradas. The group and boiler work is shared between them.

My Strada S group is weeping. Big job?

No. It is the group gasket wearing with lock-ups. We back-flush, replace the gasket and dispersion screen, and confirm a clean seal across several test shots. Parts on the truck, single visit.

A group on the Strada S is drifting off temperature. Fixable?

Yes. It is usually scale on that group's element or a drifting NTC. We descale, test the sensor, and recalibrate the PID against a reference probe so the group holds setpoint again.

Brew pressure on my Strada S has dropped. Cause?

Rotary pump wear or a drifted OPV. We measure pressure at the portafilter, reset the OPV to 9 bar, and replace the pump if it reads below spec under load.

Doses on my Strada S keep drifting. Repairable?

Yes. A mineralized flow meter pulses unevenly and the dose wanders. We clean the meter and reprogram the doses by weight, which holds far better than re-entering volumes on a dirty meter.

Steam wand on my Strada S drips after shutoff. Serious?

Not serious, but worth fixing before it wastes boiler pressure all day. It is a worn steam valve cartridge. We rebuild the valve with a fresh kit and descale the tip for a clean shutoff.

Do you carry Strada S parts or order them in?

The wear items (gaskets, screens, steam cartridges, sensors, common pump parts) ride on the truck. Newer-specific electronics are sourced through La Marzocco, usually within a couple of business days, and we give you the lead time before committing.

Is the Strada S worth repairing as it ages?

Yes. Without the profiling electronics it is the more straightforward new-generation Strada to keep running, and the multi-boiler base is long-lived. Most faults are wear parts, and we are honest when a repair stops making financial sense.

How much does a repair visit cost?

Flat rate for the visit, parts billed at their actual cost on top. You'll hear the rate when you book, and for bigger jobs we quote in writing on-site before any work starts. No estimate that balloons mid-job.

How fast can you get here?

Same-day. Call in the morning and a technician is usually on-site before the day is out; calls placed later in the day book for the next morning. Urgent breakdowns get priority routing.

Which areas do you cover?

The GTA and most of the Golden Horseshoe: Toronto through Mississauga, Vaughan, and Markham, out to Oshawa, Hamilton, and Niagara. If you're not sure you're in range, call and we'll tell you straight.

Do I need a service contract?

No. We work call by call. Plenty of customers put us on a maintenance schedule eventually, but that's their choice after seeing the work, never a requirement.

Are the repairs warrantied?

Parts carry their manufacturer warranty, and we stand behind our labour: if the same fault recurs, call us and we'll review it. Specific terms are discussed upfront on each job, not promised in marketing copy.

Do you repair on-site or take the machine away?

On-site whenever possible, which is most of the time. If a job genuinely needs the bench, like a full boiler rebuild or major electronics work, we'll say so before anything leaves your building.

How do I book a service call?

Call us or send the form on this page. We confirm the machine, the fault, and a time window the same day. If it's urgent, say so and we'll route the nearest technician.

What happens on the first visit?

Diagnosis first: we confirm the fault, tell you what caused it, and quote the fix before touching a wrench. Most repairs finish in that same visit because the common wear parts ride on the truck.

Do you carry parts or order them in?

High-wear parts for the platforms we service constantly ride on the truck. Anything else we order, usually next-day where suppliers allow, and we tell you the lead time before committing you to anything.

My machine is older or out of production. Will you still look at it?

Usually, yes. We service legacy machines for as long as parts can be sourced, and we're honest when a repair stops making financial sense against a replacement. You get the math, you make the call.

Are you cheaper than the manufacturer's service network?

Often, but that's not the pitch. We quote against the actual work, not a factory pricing book, and we'll tell you when a manufacturer warranty claim is the better route. Transparency is the value; the price usually follows.

Can you train our staff so this doesn't happen again?

Yes, and we do it by default on the way out. Half of repeat faults trace back to skipped daily cleaning or wrong routine, so the technician walks your team through what actually matters before leaving.
