Small machine, full-size faults

Fast Reneka Family Compact repair for Toronto and the GTA.

When a Family Compact stops in a food truck, the day's revenue stops with it. We repair Reneka's smallest commercial platform wherever it's parked: HX groups running cold, Aroma Perfect heads that won't lock, pressurestats drifting, fittings rattled loose by the road. Tight builds don't bother us, and most fixes finish in a single visit.

Reneka · Compact traditional commercial espresso (small-footprint hospitality)

The Family Compact.

The Family Compact is Reneka espresso shrunk to fit: a single-boiler HX machine for food trucks and micro-cafes. It carries the Aroma Perfect group head, offers the Latte Art milk module, and comes as the single-group Family Compact 1 or the twin-group Family Compact 2, all in a chassis styled by Alexander Schulz. Everything inside sits close together, so service is mostly about access, vibration, and keeping the heat exchanger ahead of scale.

Typical useFood trucks, micro-cafes, hotel suite installations, satellite bars, small hospitality programs
CapacityUp to 100 cups
Milk systemManual steam wand or Latte Art automated milk module depending on variant

Family Compact faults we diagnose

Family Compact trouble spots, and how we clear them.

The list below maps the Family Compact's usual failure points to their causes and the fixes we perform.

Brew system & pressure 3 issues
!

Aroma Perfect group portafilter not locking

Seal and tamp-face wear on the group head. We rebuild the head, replace the seals, and verify lock-up torque before handing it back.

!

HX group running cold

Scale in the heat exchanger or a flush routine that does not match the pace of service. We descale the HX, verify brew temperature at the group, and walk the operator through a flush habit that suits their volume.

!

Brew pressure low

Pump wear or OPV drift. We measure at the portafilter, adjust the OPV, and replace the pump if output stays below spec.

Electronics, grinder & other 2 issues
!

Mobile install constraints affecting service access

Food-truck and kiosk builds put the machine in tight cabinetry with vibration working on every fitting. We assess the access, work within the clearance available, and inspect for connections the road has loosened.

!

Boiler pressure unstable

Pressurestat drift or element degradation. Both get tested; the failing part is replaced and pressure verified stable at setpoint.

Don't see your issue? Call (289) 217-3796 with a description of what's happening and any error codes on screen. We'll likely diagnose it before we arrive. And if the same fault keeps returning, that's scale at work. The right Reneka water filter ends the repeat visits.

Updated August 2026

Do you repair Family Compact machines inside food trucks?

Yes, on location and around your service hours. Truck builds put the machine in tight cabinetry with road vibration working on every fitting, so we check the connections the road loosens as part of any visit. If the truck can come to a stop, we can work on it.

Why does the Family Compact group run cold during busy stretches?

It's a single-boiler HX machine, so group temperature depends on the heat exchanger staying clean and the flush routine matching your pace. Scale in the HX drags the group down; we descale it, verify brew temperature, and re-time the flush habit with whoever runs the bar.

The Aroma Perfect head on my Family Compact won't lock smoothly. Can it be rebuilt?

Yes; lock seal and tamp-face wear is the standard complaint on this head. We rebuild it, fit new seals, and verify the lock-up torque. Caught early, it never gets to the leaking-around-the-basket stage.

Is the Family Compact 2 serviced differently from the single-group version?

Same platform, one more group's worth of wear items. The boiler, pump, and head architecture are identical, so parts and procedures carry over; only the time on-site changes a little. We service both regularly.

Can the Latte Art milk module on a Family Compact be repaired, or only replaced?

Repaired, almost always. Foam faults trace to the air intake, milk-path residue, or the temperature sensor, and all three are serviceable without swapping the module. Daily cleaning discipline is what keeps it fixed.

Why is boiler pressure unstable on my Family Compact?

The pressurestat drifting or the element degrading, in that order of likelihood. We test the pressurestat against the gauge and replace it if the differential has collapsed, then check the element draw. Both parts are stocked; neither is a long job.

Is 100 cups a day realistic for a Family Compact?

Yes, with an honest caveat: it's a compact single-boiler machine, so a hundred cups spread across the day suit it far better than a hundred in two hours. Operations that rush it burn through the HX and steam side faster. If your volume has outgrown the machine, we say so rather than keep billing repairs.

What should I check before calling about a Family Compact fault in a mobile setup?

Water supply and power first, because trucks and kiosks lose both in ways cafes don't: a kinked feed line or sagging generator voltage imitates several machine faults. If supply checks out, note what the gauge reads and when the symptom appears, and call with that. It usually tells us which parts to load.

How much does a repair visit cost?

Flat rate for the visit, parts billed at their actual cost on top. You'll hear the rate when you book, and for bigger jobs we quote in writing on-site before any work starts. No estimate that balloons mid-job.

How fast can you get here?

Same-day. Call in the morning and a technician is usually on-site before the day is out; calls placed later in the day book for the next morning. Urgent breakdowns get priority routing.

Which areas do you cover?

The GTA and most of the Golden Horseshoe: Toronto through Mississauga, Vaughan, and Markham, out to Oshawa, Hamilton, and Niagara. If you're not sure you're in range, call and we'll tell you straight.

Do I need a service contract?

No. We work call by call. Plenty of customers put us on a maintenance schedule eventually, but that's their choice after seeing the work, never a requirement.

Are the repairs warrantied?

Parts carry their manufacturer warranty, and we stand behind our labour: if the same fault recurs, call us and we'll review it. Specific terms are discussed upfront on each job, not promised in marketing copy.

Do you repair on-site or take the machine away?

On-site whenever possible, which is most of the time. If a job genuinely needs the bench, like a full boiler rebuild or major electronics work, we'll say so before anything leaves your building.

How do I book a service call?

Call us or send the form on this page. We confirm the machine, the fault, and a time window the same day. If it's urgent, say so and we'll route the nearest technician.

What happens on the first visit?

Diagnosis first: we confirm the fault, tell you what caused it, and quote the fix before touching a wrench. Most repairs finish in that same visit because the common wear parts ride on the truck.

Do you carry parts or order them in?

High-wear parts for the platforms we service constantly ride on the truck. Anything else we order, usually next-day where suppliers allow, and we tell you the lead time before committing you to anything.

My machine is older or out of production. Will you still look at it?

Usually, yes. We service legacy machines for as long as parts can be sourced, and we're honest when a repair stops making financial sense against a replacement. You get the math, you make the call.

Are you cheaper than the manufacturer's service network?

Often, but that's not the pitch. We quote against the actual work, not a factory pricing book, and we'll tell you when a manufacturer warranty claim is the better route. Transparency is the value; the price usually follows.

Can you train our staff so this doesn't happen again?

Yes, and we do it by default on the way out. Half of repeat faults trace back to skipped daily cleaning or wrong routine, so the technician walks your team through what actually matters before leaving.

Your Reneka Family Compact deserves a specialist.

Trucks, kiosks, tight counters: we work where the machine lives.
