S300 faults we diagnose

Common S300 issues, and how we fix them.

Below are the most common Rex-Royal S300 faults we see on service calls, with what causes each and how we resolve it.

Brew system & pressure 2 issues
!

Metal brew unit jamming under high volume

On a machine running all day the 26 g brew unit packs grounds and wears its seals faster. We strip it, clear the chamber, replace seals and worn drive parts, lubricate, and verify clean cycling across several shots.

!

Grounds in the cup or weak extraction

A torn screen, a worn piston seal, or grind drift. We inspect the brew unit, replace worn parts, measure brew pressure, and recalibrate the grind and dose.

Water, boiler & heating 2 issues
!

Hot-water output dropping under load

Scale insulating the element or element fatigue cuts throughput exactly when a queue forms. We descale, test resistance, replace the element if output doesn't recover, and benchmark hot-water throughput.

!

Water under the machine or autofill running constantly

A weeping fitting, a worn seal, a scaled level probe, or a fill solenoid leaking past. We pressure-test, dye-trace, descale or replace the probe, and test the solenoid.

Milk & steam 3 issues
!

Fresh-milk pump weak or not drawing

A worn pump, an air leak in the suction line, or a blocked intake. We pressure-test the milk circuit, inspect the pump, replace it if flow is below spec, and refresh the suction seals.

!

Foam thin or one milk type off-spec

Residue in the foam path or a worn air-intake on the three-milk system. We strip and sanitise the circuit, replace O-rings and intake parts, and verify foam quality across all milk types.

!

Milk dispensing cold or sour smell

A temperature sensor out of spec, scale, or a skipped daily clean. We test the sensor, descale, deep-clean and sanitise the milk pathway, and refresh the cleaning routine.

Electronics, grinder & other 5 issues
!

Dose inconsistency between the two grinders

One grinder's burrs wear faster when its hopper does most of the work. We weigh dose per grinder, measure both burr gaps, recalibrate each side, and replace worn burrs.

!

Grinder rattle or not feeding

A foreign object, bridged beans, or a stuck gate. We open the grinder, clear it, inspect the burrs, and confirm consistent feeding from both hoppers.

!

10.1 inch touchscreen frozen or unresponsive

Usually a firmware hang. We run a controlled reset, reflash from a known-good image if it sticks, and replace the display module only if the touch panel has failed.

!

Error code on the touchscreen

We read the full fault log, pin down whether a sensor, valve, motor, or board is at fault, replace the part, and clear the code.

!

Cleaning cycle or grounds drawer fault

A misreading sensor or a blocked path. We diagnose where it stalls, clear the circuit, replace the sensor if needed, and watch a full cycle complete.

FAQ

Rex-Royal S300, frequently asked.

22 answers covering service, repair, parts, installation, warranty, and edge cases.

Updated July 2026

Do you service the Rex-Royal S300 across the GTA?

Yes. The Rex-Royal S300 is a regular service call for us across office floors, hotel lobbies, and hospitality break rooms in the GTA. The high-wear parts ride on the truck, and our technicians work on this exact platform routinely. Independent service, not affiliated with Rex-Royal. Built for high-volume operations pushing real daily counts.

What's the most common S300 issue we see?

By call volume on the S300: metal brew unit jamming under high volume; grounds in the cup or weak extraction; fresh-milk pump weak or not drawing. Foam quality decay, brew unit reseat issues, water-circuit scaling, and touchscreen ribbon-cable issues are the high-frequency call types. Most are diagnosed and fixed on the first visit when the part is on the truck.

Are you authorized by Rex-Royal to service the S300?

No. We're independent, and we'd rather say that plainly than imply otherwise. We service the S300 because it's a platform we work on constantly, and that independence lets us quote transparently, work outside warranty, and take on older units the authorized network may decline.

How long does a typical S300 repair take on-site?

Most S300 repairs finish in a single visit of 60 to 120 minutes. Brew unit overhauls and milk system rebuilds run longer, usually 2 to 3 hours. If a part isn't on the truck, we diagnose on the first visit and come back the next business day to finish.

How does S300 service pricing work?

Flat rate for the visit, parts billed separately. Smaller repairs just get invoiced after the work. Bigger jobs get a written quote on-site, and nothing major starts until you've approved it.

Can you service S300 controller-board and firmware issues?

Yes. Milk system contamination, brew unit cam follower wear, and sensor drift are the call patterns. We disassemble, sanitize, replace what's worn, and verify foam quality before sign-off.

Do you carry S300 parts in stock?

The common service parts, yes: brew unit seals, milk system O-rings, frequent sensors, pump assemblies, and screens. Less common parts (specific board revisions, full brew unit assemblies) come through the distributor network in 1 to 3 business days.

Do you use genuine Rex-Royal parts on the S300?

Where it matters, yes: brew units, electronic boards, sensors, pumps, motors. For O-rings, tubing, and other commodity components, industry-standard parts that meet or exceed OEM spec sometimes get your machine running sooner, and we tell you which we're fitting before it goes in.

Can you install a new Rex-Royal S300?

Yes. A S300 install covers the site survey, power and water assessment, water filtration spec, plumbing and electrical hookup, calibration of every drink profile, and staff training on daily operation and cleaning.

What's the typical S300 installation timeline?

Quote to commissioning usually runs 5 to 10 business days, gated mostly by filtration lead times and any plumbing or electrical work the site needs. The install visit itself takes 3 to 5 hours including calibration and training. Timing is confirmed in writing once the site survey is done.

Do you maintain S300 machines on a schedule?

Yes, tuned to your daily volume. A S300 pushing 150+ drinks a day gets quarterly visits; lighter use runs semi-annual. Every maintenance call covers descaling, brew unit overhaul, milk system sanitation, grinder calibration, and a full functional test.

How often should the S300 be serviced?

Up to 50 drinks a day, every 6 months. From 50 to 150, every 4 months. Past 150, every 3 months. Harder water shortens those intervals (Toronto's is moderate), and daily cleaning by your staff is non-negotiable no matter which schedule you're on.

What if my S300 is still under manufacturer warranty?

If your S300 is under Rex-Royal's warranty, independent service can affect that coverage depending on the manufacturer's terms. Try the authorized network first for a covered defect. If they're slow or decline, call us and we'll service it on standard terms.

What if my S300 is out of warranty?

Then you're our typical customer. Out-of-warranty S300 machines are the bulk of our service work, and they get the same treatment as anything else: real diagnostics, genuine parts where it matters, flat-rate visit with parts billed separately, no contracts.

Can a very old or discontinued S300 be repaired?

Usually, yes. We keep older Rex-Royal platforms running long after other shops have stopped supporting them. Out-of-production parts come from refurbisher networks or quality-matched aftermarket equivalents. And if the repair isn't economical, we tell you straight rather than running up the cost.

When is replacing the S300 cheaper than repairing it?

When the repair crosses roughly 50% of a refurbished replacement on a machine past 8 to 10 years of heavy daily use, or when several major systems fail in the same visit. We give you honest math on this. We'd rather you replace than pay us to fix something that breaks again next month.

Can you help with water filtration for the S300?

Yes. Water hardness is the single biggest factor in how long a S300 lasts. Scale shortens element life, restricts flow, and triggers descale cycles more often. We test your water on-site, spec the right cartridge or system, and install it during maintenance or as its own visit.

Do you offer phone diagnostics before booking a call?

Yes. If there's an error code on the S300 screen, call with the code and a quick description of what's happening. We can often identify the fault before dispatching, which means the right parts arrive on the first visit instead of a return trip.

How should I prepare the S300 before the technician arrives?

Have the model and serial number ready (rear panel of the machine), note any error codes from the past week, and clear access around the machine. If the fault is intermittent, try to reproduce it before we arrive so the technician can see it live.

Can you train my staff on the S300?

Yes. Every installation includes full training: daily cleaning, basic troubleshooting, drink programming, and what to watch for. After a repair, the technician walks your staff through what was fixed and what to monitor in the coming weeks. Standalone refresher visits are available too.

Do you offer emergency same-day S300 repair?

Often, yes. S300 calls within Toronto and the immediate GTA can usually be dispatched the same day when scheduling allows. Same-day completion depends on parts: the high-frequency ones ride on the truck, rarer ones can push the fix to the next business day.

What areas in the GTA do you service the S300 in?

Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton, and the wider Greater Toronto Area. Outside that range? Call with your postal code and we'll tell you straight whether it makes sense for us to come out.
