About these codes.
Updated June 2026
Common after 12 to 18 months as scale insulates the brew element and the PID compensates incorrectly. The Boxer's dual-boiler architecture means brew and steam are independent, so one boiler can drift while the other holds setpoint.
Toronto water hardness eats Boxer brew and steam boilers if a softener is not maintained. Symptoms are long warm-up, weak steam, and PID cycling that does not stabilise.
Failing NTC temperature sensor or a controller board with corroded contacts from steam migration. The display tells you before pour quality does.
Group gaskets compress with thousands of portafilter lock-ups and the leak shows up as drips down the diffuser. Routine wear-state alert on the Boxer.
Scale and coffee oils block the screen and starve the puck of even flow. The machine signals through pour quality, not through a controller alert.
Line-pressure pre-infusion on the Boxer depends on inlet pressure and brew solenoid timing. Symptoms are a flat ramp, missed infusion phase, or a curve that no longer matches the operator's preferred profile.
Rotary pump wear or drifted OPV. The gauge tells you, pressure does not reach 9 bar under load or drifts during sustained extraction.
Rocket's joystick steam assembly wears at the pivot bushing and starts catching or returning slowly. Common wear-state on the Boxer after sustained use.
Either scale in the steam pathway, a partially blocked steam tip, or a worn valve cartridge. One wand goes weak while the other stays normal.
Flow meter pulse wheels coat in mineral deposit and produce inconsistent count, which the timer reads as drift in dose. Shot volumes vary cycle to cycle.
On the Boxer the usual suspects are the boiler manifold, a brass fitting weakened by scale, or the brew solenoid seat. The machine itself does not flag this, the puddle does.

Every documented Rocket Espresso fault we see across the GTA is listed above with its meaning, common causes, and what to try before calling a technician. If the code on your machine isn't on this page, call us with the exact display string and we'll diagnose by phone.
Sometimes. Many Rocket Espresso codes clear after a power cycle, a completed descale, or a counter reset through the service menu. Codes tied to a hardware fault (failed sensor, blown element, board issue) will return immediately and need a technician. Each code above lists what's safe to try first.
A code that returns after a power cycle is signalling an actual fault, not a glitch. The underlying part (sensor, heating element, valve, motor, board) needs replacement. Repeated codes are diagnostic gold for us, so call with the exact code and any timing or symptom pattern you've noticed.
Rocket Espresso updates fault tables across firmware revisions and model generations, and not every code is documented publicly. We see codes in the field that aren't in any published list. Call us with the exact display string and the model and we'll work it out from our service log.
Most calls in Toronto and the immediate GTA are answered within 4 hours. Same-day dispatch is standard. Tell us the code and the model when you book and we'll bring the right parts on the first visit so the repair finishes the same day in most cases.
No. We're an independent service provider, not affiliated with Rocket Espresso, and we work on machines outside the manufacturer's authorized network every day. That independence lets us service older or out-of-warranty machines authorized networks may decline, and quote transparently every time.
Depends on the machine, the code, and the cost. We give you honest math on this. If repairs are starting to exceed roughly 50% of a refurbished replacement and multiple major systems are throwing codes, we'll tell you it's time to look at replacing rather than running up the repair bill.
If your machine is under the manufacturer's warranty, independent service may affect coverage depending on Rocket Espresso's specific terms. Try the manufacturer's authorized network first. If their response is slow or they decline coverage for your code, call us and we'll service it on standard terms.
11 codes are documented above, organized by the system they affect. The list is compiled from manufacturer service literature, technician forums, and our own service log across the GTA. We update it as new codes appear or firmware adds new states.
