Synesso machines rarely announce a fault with a numbered code; they tell you through symptoms, controller alerts, and what the service menu shows. This page covers the controller faults and wear-state alerts we meet on the MVP Hydra, S-Series, and ES.1, plus the legacy Cyncra, with what each one means and how it gets fixed.

One group's brew boiler is reporting a temperature outside the plausible range, or the sensor's resistance no longer matches the reference table. When one group drifts while the others hold steady, the fault lives in that group's NTC sensor rather than anywhere system-wide.
The PID can't hold one group's setpoint within tolerance. Behind it is usually NTC drift, scale insulating the heating element, or a controller offset that has shifted over time.
The element is drawing below its rated wattage or has gone open-circuit. Slow heat-up, a boiler that rarely reaches setpoint, or repeated under-temperature alerts after a descale are the telltale symptoms.
The steam boiler is sagging below setpoint or cycling erratically. On Synesso it sits separate from the brew boilers, controlled by a mechanical pressurestat on the Cyncra and older MVP builds or a sensor on newer generations.
The steam valve cartridge or tip seal has worn. You'll see drips when the valve is closed, weak pressure at full open, or a valve that catches mid-throw. Standard wear on the platform.
This one isn't a numbered code. Synesso's saturated groups seal to the boiler with proprietary T-rings, and a failed T-ring shows up as steam venting from the group body or coffee and water tracking down the side of the casting. It is the single most common wear-state fault on the platform.
The MVP Hydra gives each group its own electronically controlled pre-infusion circuit. A failed solenoid or a degraded controller output produces flat pre-infusion, or no infusion phase at all, on the affected group.
Each MVP Hydra group has its own rotary pump. Pressure drift on one group while the others stay stable points at that group's pump or its expansion valve, not at the brew system as a whole.
Volumetric dosing lives or dies on the flow meter's pulse count. Mineral buildup on the impeller drops pulses, the controller reads the gaps as dose drift, and shot volumes start varying cycle to cycle.
Ribbon connectors and membrane buttons wear over years of daily use. The symptoms run from a single dead shot button to a fully blank display.
A level probe in one of the boilers has scaled over and stopped conducting, so the controller sees an empty boiler that is actually full. Machines fed unsoftened municipal water are the usual victims.

Sometimes. Many Synesso codes clear after a power cycle, a completed descale, or a counter reset through the service menu. Codes tied to a hardware fault (failed sensor, blown element, board issue) will return immediately and need a technician. Each code above lists what's safe to try first.
A code that returns after a power cycle is signalling a real fault, not a glitch. The underlying part (sensor, heating element, valve, motor, board) needs replacement. Repeat codes are diagnostic gold for us, so call with the exact code and any timing or symptom pattern you've noticed.
Synesso updates fault tables across firmware revisions and model generations, and not every code is documented publicly. We see codes in the field that aren't in any published list. Call us with the exact display string and the model and we'll work it out from our service log.
Most calls in Toronto and the immediate GTA get same-day on-site response when scheduling allows. Tell us the code and the model when you book and we'll bring the right parts on the first visit so the repair finishes the same day in most cases.
No. We're an independent service provider, not affiliated with Synesso, and we work on machines outside the manufacturer's authorized network routinely. That independence lets us service older or out-of-warranty machines authorized networks may decline, and quote transparently every time.
Depends on the machine, the code, and the cost. We give you honest math on this. If repairs are starting to exceed roughly 50% of a refurbished replacement and multiple major systems are throwing codes, we'll tell you it's time to look at replacing rather than running up the repair bill.
If your machine is under the manufacturer's warranty, independent service may affect coverage depending on Synesso's specific terms. Try the manufacturer's authorized network first. If their response is slow or they decline coverage for your code, call us and we'll service it on standard terms.
