Wega · High-volume traditional espresso
The Pegaso Plus is the current take on Wega's long-running Pegaso, the brand's entry-level value workhorse. Built for cafe volume up to 400 shots a day, it comes in EVD electronic or EPU semi-automatic trims, with a backlit push-button panel and an LED-lit work surface. From the service side it is honest, simple hardware: group seals, steam valves, a flow meter, and a pump are the parts that come up, and they are all quick to put right.

Below are the Pegaso Plus faults that fill our service log, from weeping group gaskets to drifting volumetric doses, each with the usual cause and how we put it right.
A weeping group gasket is standard 12-to-18-month wear. We replace the gasket and dispersion screen together and confirm the seal under pressure.
An oil-clogged screen breaks up even extraction, so we fit a fresh one and backflush the group with detergent to clear the rest of the path.
Brew pressure under 9 bar is pump wear or OPV drift. We gauge it with a blind portafilter, adjust the OPV, and quote a pump only if output has dropped below spec.
Hammering at startup is air in the line or a worn rotary. We bleed the line, open the pump head to check the vane, and replace it if it is worn.
On a multi-boiler Pegaso, temperature drift at a group is sensor wear or PID drift. We measure each group, recalibrate the PID, and replace the sensor if it is reading off.
Low steam pressure is scale, a tired element, or a drifted pressurestat. We descale the boiler, test the element, and check the pressurestat against a gauge before deciding what to replace.
Water under the machine gets pressure-tested circuit by circuit so we can isolate the leak and replace the seal or fitting behind it.
Drain backflow is a blocked or kinked drain line. We clear it and confirm it runs freely under load.
A wand dripping when closed is a worn valve cartridge. We rebuild the valve with a new cartridge and seals and confirm a dry shut-off.
Steam that fades during a rush is the boiler not keeping up. We descale, test the element, and verify the pressurestat so it recovers under load.
Drifting volumetric doses are flow-meter buildup. We clean the impeller, confirm the pulse signal, and reprogram the doses against a calibrated shot glass.
A dead display or keypad on one group points at that group's controller or wiring. We trace the fault to the affected part and replace it.
Auto-fill that cycles too often is a scaled level probe or a slow boiler leak. We descale the probe first, then pressure-test the boiler for hidden seepage.
Uneven cup-warmer heat is a failing element or a tripped thermal cutoff. We test both and replace whatever is out of spec.

EVD is the electronic, volumetric version that meters each dose automatically, while EPU is the semi-automatic trim where the barista controls the shot manually. They share the same boiler, group, and steam hardware, so most repairs are identical; the EVD just adds the flow meters and dose programming we calibrate.
Yes, that is its design point, and the multi-boiler top trims hold up well at that volume. Push it hard and the wear parts simply arrive sooner, so a busy bar benefits from a regular descale and seal service rather than a bigger machine.
