Wega · Premium traditional espresso

The Vela Vintage.

The Vela Vintage is Wega's current Vela-family machine, a premium multi-boiler built for specialty cafes. It runs upscale hospitality at up to 400 shots a day, with per-group boilers and PID giving each station its own stable temperature and twin steam wands for milk. On the bench it behaves like the rest of the premium Wega range: predictable wear at the gaskets, steam valves, and flow meters, with the occasional sensor drifted out of spec.

Vela Vintage faults we diagnose

Common Vela Vintage faults, and how we fix them.

These are the Vela Vintage faults we meet on real service calls, from per-group temperature drift to steam recovery and dosing problems, each with its cause and the fix.

Brew system & pressure 4 issues
!

Group gasket leaking

A leaking group gasket is routine wear; we renew the gasket and dispersion screen as a pair and verify the seal.

!

Channelling on one group

Channelling on one group is an oil-clogged screen. We replace it and backflush the group to restore even flow.

!

Brew pressure below spec

Brew pressure below spec is the pump or the OPV. We gauge it, adjust the OPV, and quote a pump if it cannot hold 9 bar.

!

Pump loud on startup

A pump loud on startup is a worn rotary or trapped air. We bleed the line, inspect the head, and replace the rotary if it is worn.

Water, boiler & heating 4 issues
!

Per-group temperature drift on the multi-boiler Vela

Per-group temperature drift on the multi-boiler Vela is sensor wear or PID drift. We measure brew temperature at each group, recalibrate the PID, and replace the sensor if it has wandered.

!

Steam boiler slow to recover

A steam boiler slow to recover is scaled or running a tired element. We descale, test element draw, and replace the element if it is degraded.

!

Water under the machine

Water under the machine gets pressure-tested by circuit so we can pin the leak and replace the seal behind it.

!

Inlet solenoid scaled or failing

An inlet solenoid that is scaled or failing gets descaled and tested electrically, and replaced if the coil is gone.

Milk & steam 2 issues
!

Steam valve dripping

A dripping steam valve is cartridge wear. We rebuild it with a new cartridge and seals and confirm it closes dry.

!

Weak steam

Weak steam means the boiler is not holding pressure, so we descale and test the pressurestat and element together.

Electronics, grinder & other 4 issues
!

Volumetric doses drifting

Volumetric doses that drift are flow-meter buildup. We clean the meter, confirm its pulse, and reprogram doses to a calibrated glass.

!

Keypad unresponsive

An unresponsive keypad is a failed membrane or a controller fault behind it. We test continuity, then replace the keypad assembly or trace the controller.

!

Auto-fill not engaging

Auto-fill that will not engage is a scaled probe or a failed solenoid. We test both and replace whichever has quit.

!

Cup warmer not heating

A cold cup warmer is a failed element or switch. We test both and replace what is out of spec.

FAQ

Wega Vela Vintage, frequently asked.

Updated July 2026

What does the multi-boiler layout do for the Vela Vintage?

Each group runs its own boiler and PID, so one station's temperature does not sag when another is pulling shots. It is what lets the Vela Vintage hold quality at up to 400 cups a day, and it is also why a temperature problem usually traces to a single group rather than the whole machine.

One group on my Vela Vintage runs cooler than the others. Why?

That points at that group's sensor or PID calibration drifting. We measure brew water at each group, recalibrate the offset, and replace the sensor if it has wandered out of spec.

The steam boiler on my Vela Vintage is slow to recover. What is wrong?

Almost always scale on the element, with a tired element or drifted pressurestat behind the stubborn cases. We descale, test the element draw, and verify the pressurestat so steam comes back under load.

Can a Vela Vintage handle 400 shots a day?

Yes, that is its rating, and the per-group boilers are built for it. At sustained high volume the wear parts arrive faster, so a regular service interval keeps it reliable.

Is a Vela Vintage worth repairing?

Almost always. It is a premium capital machine, and the common faults, gaskets, valves, sensors, a flow meter, cost a fraction of replacing it. We quote the repair and give you an honest read on remaining life.

How often does a Vela Vintage need descaling?

It tracks your water and volume. On harder local water a busy Vela Vintage often wants a descale every couple of months, and we check scale condition on every visit.

My Vela Vintage keypad has stopped responding. Is it the screen?

Usually it is a worn membrane or a controller fault behind it, not the whole machine. We test continuity, then replace the keypad assembly or trace the controller.

Does the grinder come with the Vela Vintage?

No, it pairs with an external commercial grinder. We will check burrs, dose, and calibration while we are there, but the grinder is serviced as its own item.

How much does a repair visit cost?

Flat rate for the visit, parts billed at their actual cost on top. You'll hear the rate when you book, and for bigger jobs we quote in writing on-site before any work starts. No estimate that balloons mid-job.

How fast can you get here?

Same-day in most cases. Call in the morning and a technician is usually on-site before the day is out; calls placed later in the day book for the next morning. Urgent breakdowns get priority routing.

Which areas do you cover?

The GTA and most of the Golden Horseshoe: Toronto through Mississauga, Vaughan, and Markham, out to Oshawa, Hamilton, and Niagara. If you're not sure you're in range, call and we'll tell you straight.

Do I need a service contract?

No. We work call by call. Plenty of customers put us on a maintenance schedule eventually, but that's their choice after seeing the work, never a requirement.

Are the repairs warrantied?

Parts carry their manufacturer warranty, and we stand behind our labour: if the same fault recurs, call us and we'll review it. Specific terms are discussed upfront on each job, not promised in marketing copy.

Do you repair on-site or take the machine away?

On-site whenever possible, which is most of the time. If a job genuinely needs the bench, like a full boiler rebuild or major electronics work, we'll say so before anything leaves your building.

How do I book a service call?

Call us or send the form on this page. We confirm the machine, the fault, and a time window the same day. If it's urgent, say so and we'll route the nearest technician.

What happens on the first visit?

Diagnosis first: we confirm the fault, tell you what caused it, and quote the fix before touching a wrench. Most repairs finish in that same visit because the common wear parts ride on the truck.

Do you carry parts or order them in?

High-wear parts for the platforms we service constantly ride on the truck. Anything else we order, usually next-day where suppliers allow, and we tell you the lead time before committing you to anything.

My machine is older or out of production. Will you still look at it?

Usually, yes. We service legacy machines for as long as parts can be sourced, and we're honest when a repair stops making financial sense against a replacement. You get the math, you make the call.

Are you cheaper than the manufacturer's service network?

Often, but that's not the pitch. We quote against the actual work, not a factory pricing book, and we'll tell you when a manufacturer warranty claim is the better route. Transparency is the value; the price usually follows.

Can you train our staff so this doesn't happen again?

Yes, and we do it by default on the way out. Half of repeat faults trace back to skipped daily cleaning or wrong routine, so the technician walks your team through what actually matters before leaving.
