Carimali error codes, what they mean and how to fix them.
If your Carimali is flashing a code and you want to know what it means before you call, you're in the right place. Carimali is really two machines under one badge: fully automatic platforms (BlueDot, Blue26, Armonia, Optima, CA250, SilverAce, SilverTwin, and Mya Ultra) and traditional espresso machines (Cento, Bubble, Glow, Nimble, and DivaPRO), and the two sides report faults very differently. The super-automatic codes below cover brew-unit position, milk system, grinder, touchscreen, and cleaning faults; the traditional codes are fewer and more mechanical. Older BlueDot Touch, ArmoniaTouch, X-One, and Series 80 machines stay serviceable and often throw the same codes.

About these codes. These notes are pulled from Carimali's own service documentation, which splits across separate super-automatic and traditional manuals, from VEA Group dealer support, and from our own service log. An OEM-rebadged Carimali can show the same fault under a different brand label, so if your code doesn't match exactly, call us and we'll work it out from the symptom. Updated August 2026
Boiler
1 codeE03 Heating timeout (super-auto)
The boiler didn't reach its setpoint inside the heat-up window. Super-auto boilers are small and scale faster than traditional ones, so this shows up early when descaling has been skipped.
Likely causes
- Scale on the element
- Degraded element
- Sticking SSR or relay
- Probe reading low
Try this first
- Check your descaling interval, super-auto boilers need it more often than people expect.
- Confirm the machine is on its own dedicated circuit.
- Power-cycle and try a warm restart.
Testing the element and the switching device is service-call work, not something to chase from the front panel.
Brew group
2 codesE01 Brew unit position fault (super-auto)
On the BlueDot, Armonia, Optima, and CA250 super-automatics, the brew unit isn't reaching its home position, or the sensor isn't seeing it complete the brew cycle.
Likely causes
- Failed brew-unit motor
- Misaligned home-position sensor
- Grind buildup obstructing piston travel
- Worn cam followers stalling the piston
Try this first
- Power-cycle from the main switch.
- If the brew unit is removable, take it out and check for visible grind buildup.
- Don't force the brew unit if it feels stiff by hand.
If the unit feels stiff or grinds when you move it by hand, the cam followers are worn. That's a service-call job, not a cleaning one.
X-01 Group / brew solenoid fault (traditional)
On the traditional machines such as Cento, Bubble, Glow, Nimble, and DivaPRO, brew was commanded but no flow or end-of-dose signal came back. Legacy X-One and Series 80 machines can show the same symptom.
Likely causes
- Failed group solenoid coil
- Blown solenoid driver
- Scale in the valve
- Pump issue upstream
Try this first
- Listen for the solenoid click when you start a shot.
- Use the other groups while you wait for service.
- Don't try to bypass the solenoid.
These group hydraulics need both electrical and flow-side diagnosis. Working out which solenoid has gone silent is the first thing a tech does.
Electronics
1 codeE08 Touchscreen / communication fault (super-auto)
On current touchscreen Carimali automatics such as the BlueDot, BlueDot Plus, BlueDot Power, Armonia, CA250, SilverAce, and SilverTwin family, the screen has stopped responding or has lost communication with the main controller. Legacy BlueDot Touch and ArmoniaTouch machines throw the same fault.
Likely causes
- Failed touch digitizer
- Ribbon connector unseated
- Corrupted firmware after a power event
- Board-level fault
Try this first
- Power-cycle from the main switch.
- Note whether the screen lights up at all.
- Confirm surge protection on the dedicated circuit.
Depending on the diagnosis it's a hard reset, a firmware reflash, or a display swap. Carimali touchscreens are sensitive to power events, so it's worth sorting surge protection at the same time.
Water
2 codesE06 Water inlet fault (super-auto)
No water is reaching the inlet, or a tank sensor is reporting empty when it shouldn't be.
Likely causes
- Closed inlet shutoff
- Failed inlet solenoid
- Empty tank (on tank-fed configurations)
- Scaled inlet strainer on CA250
Try this first
- Confirm the inlet shutoff is open.
- If tank-fed, confirm the tank is full and seated.
- Power-cycle once.
Testing the inlet strainer and solenoid is tech work, and on the CA250 that strainer scales up often enough to be the first suspect.
X-03 Autofill / level probe fault (traditional)
On the traditional machines such as Cento, Bubble, Glow, Nimble, and DivaPRO, autofill ran past its safety window or the level probe rarely registered the water level changing. Legacy X-One and Series 80 machines share the fault.
Likely causes
- Scaled level probe
- Failed inlet solenoid
- Closed inlet shutoff
- Low feed pressure
Try this first
- Confirm the inlet shutoff is open.
- Look under the machine for any sign of a leak.
- Don't keep power-cycling if the pump runs without filling.
Testing the level probe and inlet solenoid is tech work, and the probe is worth pulling and descaling on every service.
Pressure
1 codeX-02 Pressurestat fault (traditional)
On the traditional machines such as Cento, Bubble, Glow, Nimble, and DivaPRO, steam-boiler pressure has drifted outside its band or the pressurestat has stopped responding to changes. Legacy X-One and Series 80 machines can do the same.
Likely causes
- Drifted pressurestat
- Scale on the pressurestat port
- Failed pressurestat
- Degraded element keeping pressure low
Try this first
- Compare the panel gauge against the displayed value.
- Listen for the safety valve hissing.
- Power-cycle once.
Calibrating or replacing the pressurestat is tech work, and on the Cento and its relatives it means budgeting time to pull the boiler shield.
Sensors
1 codeE02 Boiler NTC out of range (super-auto)
The boiler temperature probe on a Carimali super-automatic is reading outside its valid range, so the machine has locked out heating to stay safe.
Likely causes
- Failed NTC
- Broken lead
- Moisture in connector
- Scale-driven drift
Try this first
- Power-cycle once.
- Note whether the code clears briefly before it returns.
- Don't keep resetting it if it comes straight back.
On high-volume CA250 units the probe is a wear item that needs replacing sooner than most. Either way, swapping it is a tech visit.
Milk system
1 codeE04 Milk system fault (super-auto)
The milk pump, air intake, or milk-temperature sensor isn't responding the way the machine expects during a milk drink. We see it most on the BlueDot Plus, BlueDot Power, Optima Ultra, CA250, SilverAce, and SilverTwin family.
Likely causes
- Skipped daily clean, milk-protein buildup in the foam chamber
- Worn or blocked milk pump impeller
- Failed milk-temperature sensor
- Air leak in the suction line
Try this first
- Confirm the daily cleaning cycle has actually been running.
- Inspect the milk lines for visible buildup.
- Run a deep clean cycle if the machine has one.
Stripping and sanitizing the circuit, then replacing the O-rings and intake spring, is service work. We'll reset the daily clean routine with your staff so it doesn't come back.
Grinder
1 codeE05 Grinder fault (super-auto)
The grinder didn't deliver its dose inside the time window, or the motor pulled into overcurrent and stopped.
Likely causes
- Foreign object in the burrs (small stones in lower-grade beans)
- Burr wear
- Beans bridging in the hopper
- Failed grinder motor
Try this first
- Open the hopper and check for foreign objects.
- Check whether beans are bridging, and tap the hopper gently.
- Don't keep grinding through it if the motor sounds stressed.
Inspecting and replacing burrs is a tech visit. If the bean supply keeps dropping stones into the burrs, that's a longer conversation about changing supplier.
Other
2 codesE07 Drip tray / waste container full (super-auto)
The drip-tray or waste-puck sensor is reading full. Often it's a false trigger from sticky milk residue on the sensor rather than a genuinely full container.
Likely causes
- Genuinely full tray or waste container
- Sticky milk residue on a reed sensor
- Magnet position issue on the tray
- Failed sensor
Try this first
- Empty and clean the tray and waste container.
- Wipe the sensor area carefully.
- Reseat the tray to confirm the magnet engages.
If the fault stays put with everything emptied and wiped clean, the sensor itself needs replacing. That's a tech visit.
Service Maintenance interval reached
A maintenance counter has hit its threshold, whether shots, descale hours, or the milk-system clean interval. It's a reminder, not an active fault.
Likely causes
- Programmed shot threshold
- Descale timer elapsed
- Milk-system clean counter elapsed
- Water filter capacity reached
Try this first
- Note which counter triggered.
- Confirm the hardness setting matches the installed filter.
- Don't reset without doing the work.
Book the maintenance the counter is asking for. Clearing it without doing the work just shortens the life of whatever it was protecting.

FAQ
Carimali error codes, frequently asked.
9 answers about resetting codes, recurring faults, firmware versions, and when DIY ends. If the recurring ones are descale or water warnings, start with the right Carimali water filter.
Updated August 2026
What does Carimali error code E01 mean?
Every documented Carimali fault we see is listed above, with its meaning, common causes, and what to try before calling a technician. If the code on your machine isn't on this page, call us with the exact display string and we'll work it out by phone.
Can I clear or reset a Carimali error code myself?
Sometimes. Many Carimali codes clear after a power cycle, a completed descale, or a counter reset through the service menu. Codes tied to a hardware fault (failed sensor, blown element, board issue) will return immediately and need a technician. Each code above lists what's safe to try first.
Why does the same Carimali error keep coming back?
A code that returns after a power cycle is signalling a real fault, not a glitch. The underlying part (sensor, heating element, valve, motor, board) needs replacement. Repeat codes are diagnostic gold for us, so call with the exact code and any timing or symptom pattern you've noticed.
My Carimali code isn't listed. Why?
Carimali updates fault tables across firmware revisions and model generations, and not every code is documented publicly. We see codes in the field that aren't in any published list. Call us with the exact display string and the model and we'll work it out from our service log.
How fast can you get on-site if I'm stuck on an error code?
Most calls in Toronto and the immediate GTA get same-day on-site response. Tell us the code and the model when you book and we'll bring the right parts on the first visit so the repair finishes the same day.
Do I need to be authorized by Carimali to reset an error code?
No. We're an independent service provider, not affiliated with Carimali, and we work on machines outside the manufacturer's authorized network routinely. That independence lets us service older or out-of-warranty machines authorized networks may decline, and quote transparently every time.
Is it worth fixing an old Carimali machine that keeps throwing codes?
Depends on the machine, the code, and the cost. We give you honest math on this. If repairs are starting to exceed roughly 50% of a refurbished replacement and multiple major systems are throwing codes, we'll tell you it's time to look at replacing rather than running up the repair bill.
Will independent service void my Carimali warranty?
If your machine is under the manufacturer's warranty, independent service may affect coverage depending on Carimali's specific terms. Try the manufacturer's authorized network first. If their response is slow or they decline coverage for your code, call us and we'll service it on standard terms.
How many Carimali codes are documented on this page?
12 codes are documented above, organized by the system they affect. The list is compiled from manufacturer service literature, technician forums, and our own service log. We update it as new codes appear or firmware adds new states.
