Carimali commercial coffee machine
Carimali commercial coffee machine logo.

Italian espresso, automatic and traditional, kept running.

Carimali is really two machines under one badge. The automatic side, BlueDot through Optima and the Silver range, takes fresh beans to a finished drink for offices, hotels, and self-serve counters where no barista stands; the traditional side, Cento and its relatives, is barista-driven bar espresso. On the bench the two barely overlap: the automatics live or die by brew-unit upkeep and milk-system hygiene, while the traditional machines reward descaling, sound group seals, and honest pump pressure.

Carimali faults we diagnose

Common Carimali issues, and how we fix them.

These are the Carimali faults that actually book service calls, across the automatics and the traditional machines, with the cause behind each one and how we put it right.

Brew system & pressure 4 issues
!

BlueDot / Armonia / Optima brew unit jamming mid-cycle

Grind packing the brew chamber is the usual trigger, with worn cam followers or a dry, unlubricated piston behind the stubborn cases. We pull the brew unit, clean every wear surface, fit new seals and gaskets, lubricate with food-safe grease, and confirm clean cycling across several test drinks before we leave.

!

Coffee grounds appearing in the cup on a super-automatic

Grounds in the cup point to a torn brew screen, a worn brew-piston seal, or a grind that has run too fine for the screen's condition. We inspect both screens, replace whatever shows wear, fit a fresh piston seal, and recalibrate grind coarseness so the puck holds together again.

!

Cento, Bubble, Glow, Nimble, or DivaPRO group head gasket leaking

On the traditional machines the group gasket is a wear part that typically lasts 12 to 18 months under busy service. We pull the group, replace the gasket and dispersion screen, clean the threads, and verify a clean seal under full brew pressure.

!

Traditional Carimali brew pressure low at the group

Low brew pressure on the traditional side comes down to rotary-pump wear, expansion-valve drift, or a clogged inlet screen. We gauge pressure with a blind portafilter, isolate which one it is, reset the expansion valve against a calibrated gauge, and quote a pump only when output is genuinely below spec.

Water, boiler & heating 4 issues
!

Slow heating or boiler not reaching set temperature

Scale insulating the heating element is the leading cause here, with a degraded element behind the rest. We descale the boiler, time the heat-up against spec, measure element resistance and current draw, and replace the element only when performance does not come back.

!

Pressure stat drift or pressure error on super-automatic platforms

On the super-automatic boilers, a drifting pressurestat or a failing NTC sensor is what throws these pressure and temperature codes. We test the sensor against the reference table, check the pressurestat with a calibrated gauge, replace whichever has failed, then clear the log and run a full diagnostic before returning the machine.

!

Descaling alert keeps reappearing after running the descale cycle

A descale alert that will not clear usually means the cycle was interrupted or the counter rarely reset through the service menu. We confirm the descale ran end to end, reset the counter by hand, and check the water-hardness setting if the alert keeps returning early.

!

Water in drip tray that shouldn't be there

Unexplained water in the tray comes from a brew-group seal leak, a blocked drain backing up, or a hairline crack in an internal line. We pressure-test the brew circuit, clear any drain blockage, and replace the leaking seals, quoting a cracked line separately if that is the source.

Milk & steam 3 issues
!

BlueDot / Optima milk system producing weak foam or no foam

Weak foam almost typically traces to milk-protein buildup in the foam chamber and air-intake line, usually after a skipped daily clean or expired cleaning solution. We strip and sanitize the whole milk pathway, replace the worn O-rings and the foam-intake spring, then verify foam density with a test cycle before handing it back.

!

Milk dispensing cold despite running through the heating cycle

Cold milk after a full heating cycle usually means a failing milk-temperature sensor or scale insulating the milk heat exchanger. We test the sensor against a reference probe, descale the milk circuit, and replace the sensor only if it reads out of spec.

!

Steam wand dripping or weak steam pressure

On the traditional machines (Cento, Bubble, Glow, Nimble, DivaPRO) the steam-valve cartridge simply wears with daily use. We rebuild the valve, descale the steam circuit, and verify both a dry shut-off and full-open steam pressure across several cycles.

Electronics, grinder & other 3 issues
!

BlueDot / Armonia touchscreen frozen or unresponsive

A frozen screen is usually a software hang, sometimes a corrupted firmware state, and occasionally a failed touch digitizer. We hard-reset through service mode, reflash from a known-good image, and replace the display module only when the panel itself has failed rather than the software.

!

Error code displayed and machine refusing to brew

When the machine locks out brewing, the stored code points at the part it is unhappy with. We read the fault history through the service interface, identify the code, and correct the root cause, whether a sensor, relay, solenoid, or brew-unit position sensor. Most clear with a sensor or relay swap; a board replacement we quote before going ahead.

!

Older Carimali or OEM-rebadged Carimali needing discontinued parts

We keep current, legacy, and OEM-rebadged Carimali machines running well after other shops turn them away. For parts that are out of production we source from refurbisher networks and fit quality-matched equivalents, and if a repair stops making financial sense we will tell you straight rather than stack labour.

Don't see your issue? Call (289) 217-3796 with a description of what's happening and any error codes on screen. We'll likely diagnose it before we arrive. And if the same fault keeps returning, that's scale at work. The right Carimali water filter ends the repeat visits.

Carimali, wherever you are

Automatic or traditional, the supply still decides.

We work both sides of the Carimali range, the automatics in offices and self-serve sites and the traditional groups on cafe bars. Whichever you run, your address sets the descale interval more than your machine does. Find your city below.

FAQ

Carimali service, frequently asked.

20 answers covering service, repair, parts, installation, warranty, and edge cases.

Updated August 2026

Do you actually repair Carimali machines across the GTA?

Yes. Carimali is one of our regular platforms across GTA offices, hotels, cafes, and self-service installs. We usually have a super-automatic on the bench or a traditional machine getting a group rebuild, so a Carimali fault is familiar ground rather than a one-off.

Are you an authorized Carimali service centre?

No, and we say so plainly. We are an independent commercial coffee equipment specialist, not tied to a manufacturer program. That lets us work on out-of-warranty machines, keep older BlueDot Touch and ArmoniaTouch units running after the official network moves on, and quote against the actual job rather than a factory price book.

Can you fix both the super-automatic and the traditional Carimali machines?

Both. The super-automatics (BlueDot, Blue26, Armonia, Optima, the Silver range) live in brew units, milk modules, grinders, and touchscreens. The traditional machines (Cento, Bubble, Glow, Nimble, DivaPRO) live in group heads, boilers, pumps, and steam valves. We carry parts and diagnostic kit for each side, and a lot of shops only handle one.

What does it cost to repair a Carimali?

The service visit and diagnosis are a flat amount you hear when you book, so no meter runs while we investigate. Parts are billed on top and depend on the fault: an O-ring kit or a group gasket is minor, a pump, display, or control board is not. For any larger job you get the full number in writing on-site before we start.

How fast can you get to a Carimali that is down right now?

Most faults called in before mid-morning see a technician the same day, with later calls usually booked for the next business day. Give us the model and the code or symptom when you call and the van leaves with the likely parts loaded. A cafe or office with no coffee service gets moved up the route.

Why is the milk foam on my BlueDot or Optima suddenly weak?

Almost always milk-protein buildup narrowing the foam chamber and air-intake line, usually after a skipped daily clean or expired cleaning solution. A worn intake O-ring or spring can do it too. We strip and sanitize the milk pathway, fit fresh seals, and verify foam density on a test drink before we leave.

What does an error code on a Carimali super-automatic mean?

It is the machine pointing at the part it is unhappy with, whether a sensor, relay, solenoid, or the brew-unit position sensor. We read the fault history through the service interface and correct the root cause rather than just clearing the code. The history also shows whether a fault is recurring, which often points back to water or routine.

My Carimali brew unit keeps jamming. Can that be fixed for good?

Usually, yes. A jam is grind packing the chamber, worn cam followers, or a piston that has lost its lubrication. We strip the brew unit, clean every wear surface, replace the seals and gaskets, and lubricate with food-safe grease. Done properly it cycles cleanly again, and we show your staff the cleaning that keeps it that way.

Can you still service a legacy Carimali like the BlueDot Touch, ArmoniaTouch, X-One, or Series 80?

Yes. We keep legacy Carimali machines running well after the official network drops them, with seals, gaskets, sensors, and group parts sourced from refurbisher networks and validated aftermarket stock. If a repair stops making financial sense against a replacement, we tell you straight rather than stack labour.

Our Carimali is OEM-rebadged under another brand. Will you still work on it?

Yes. A lot of machines sold under other badges are Carimali hardware underneath, mechanically identical to the units we already service. We diagnose from the symptom and the internals, not the label on the front, so a rebadged Carimali is no problem.

How often should a commercial Carimali be descaled?

It depends on your water and your volume. On the harder York Region and Hamilton supplies a busy machine can want descaling every two months, while softer Toronto and Mississauga water stretches that to three or four. Super-auto boilers are small and scale faster than traditional ones, so we set an interval that matches your actual water rather than a generic calendar.

Do you carry Carimali parts on the truck?

The truck stock follows the fault statistics: brew-unit seals and gaskets, O-ring kits, milk-system components, group gaskets and dispersion screens, common sensors, and steam-valve parts. That covers the bulk of calls in one visit. Pumps, displays, control boards, and burr sets are ordered per job and usually with us inside a business day or two.

Do you repair Carimali machines on-site, or take them away?

On-site, almost always. Both the automatics and the traditional machines are built to be serviced where they stand, panels off, right at the counter. The rare exceptions are severe water damage or a full strip-down rebuild, which belong on a bench, and we tell you that before anything leaves your building.

Why does our self-service Carimali keep souring the milk or failing its clean cycle?

On the Optima, CA250, and Mya Ultra the automated clean has to run on schedule, and if the dosing fails or the solution runs out, residue sours the milk and the foam collapses. Aged silicone lines grip protein no matter how well they rinse. We service the dosing and level sensors, replace tired lines and seals, and reset the cleaning schedule with your team.

Is it worth repairing an older Carimali or should we replace it?

For most faults, repair wins comfortably. Seals, sensors, gaskets, milk parts, even a brew-unit overhaul cost a small fraction of a new commercial machine. The math only gets debatable when an old unit needs several major components at once, and if yours is there, we will say so before you spend anything.

Are you cheaper than Carimali's own service network?

Often, but that is not the pitch. We quote against the actual work rather than a factory price book, and we will tell you when a live warranty claim is the better route. Transparency is the value, and the price usually follows from it.

Can you recalibrate the touchscreen drink profiles after a repair?

Yes. After a firmware reflash or a board swap we restore the drink profiles and dosing so the machine pours the way your staff expect. If recipes had drifted before the fault, we reset them to a clean baseline and walk your team through any changes.

Can you look after several Carimali machines across our offices or sites?

Yes, multi-machine visits are routine. One booking can cover the BlueDot in the head-office kitchen, the Optima in the lobby, and the traditional bar in the cafe, with a single report listing what was done to each. Fleets also benefit from pattern-spotting: when several machines share a fault, the cause is usually the water or the routine, not the machines.

Can you come outside business hours so we do not lose coffee service?

Often, yes. Evening and weekend slots exist for exactly this, mostly hotels, offices, and restaurants where a daytime shutdown means lost service, arranged case by case when you book. Tell us your operating hours and we will find the window that costs you the least coffee.

Do I need a service contract to get a Carimali repaired?

No. We work call by call, and you are never locked in. Plenty of offices and cafes put us on a regular maintenance schedule after they have seen the work, but that is their choice, not a condition of getting a machine fixed.

About Carimali

Reviewed August 2026

Carimali, in brief.

Carimali is one of the oldest names in Italian commercial coffee equipment, with more than a century of history out of Bergamo. What makes the lineup unusual is its reach: super-automatic and traditional espresso platforms under one brand, plus an OEM business that ships Carimali hardware under other badges.

Bergamo heritage, hybrid lineup

Carimali was founded in 1919 in Italy and has been headquartered at its current site in Chignolo d'Isola, Bergamo, in the Lombardy region. In 2017, holding company VEA Ventures acquired Carimali; in late 2024 VEA consolidated its coffee-equipment portfolio into VEA Group SpA, the merged entity that now also includes Elektra Srl, Heylo Srl, and Bellezza Srl. Carimali's lineup uniquely spans both super-automatic and traditional commercial espresso platforms under a single brand.

BlueDot, Blue26, Armonia, Optima, CA250, SilverAce, SilverTwin, Cento, Bubble, Glow, Nimble, DivaPRO

On the fully automatic side, Carimali's current range includes BlueDot, BlueDot Plus, BlueDot Power, Blue26, Blue26 Plus, Blue26 Power, Armonia Light, Armonia Soft, Armonia Ultra, Optima Soft, Optima Ultra, CA250, SilverAce, SilverAce Plus, SilverAce Power, SilverTwin, and SilverTwin Plus. On the traditional side, current Carimali pages center on Cento, Bubble, Glow, Nimble, and DivaPRO. BlueDot Touch, ArmoniaTouch, X-One, and Series 80 are treated here as older/legacy pages rather than current lineup targets.

Legacy and OEM-rebadged Carimali machines

Beyond the current range, plenty of legacy Carimali platforms are still in daily use, including BlueDot Touch, ArmoniaTouch, X-One, Series 80, and older Cento generations, and we service those too. Many machines installed under other brand names are OEM-rebadged Carimali hardware, mechanically identical underneath, and we work on those as well. Whether a unit is current, discontinued, or wearing someone else's badge, the diagnostic approach is the same.

Why a Carimali deserves a Carimali-literate technician

Carimali is one of the few brands where a single service call might pull you into either a super-automatic or a traditional architecture depending on which model is on the counter. The super-automatic side has a brew unit, milk system, grinder, and touchscreen controller; the traditional side has group heads, an expansion valve, pressurestats, and steam-valve cartridges. The diagnostic vocabularies barely overlap. We work on both sides of the lineup, which means we don't have to guess which platform we're walking into.

Your Carimali deserves a specialist.
