Why is my PBC-1A brewing weak or one-sided coffee?
Scale in the sprayhead is the usual reason. When the holes plug, water stops landing evenly across the bed, so it channels and the batch comes out thin. We pull and soak the sprayhead, clear each hole, and check that the restricted flow has not thrown off the pulse-brew timing.
The brew valve on my PBC-1A drips into the shuttle between cycles. Is that serious?
It is routine, not serious. The brew valve works harder than anything else on the machine, and a worn diaphragm or a fouled seat lets it weep. We test the coil, check the valve internals, and replace it as a complete assembly, which we carry on the truck.
My PBC-1A is slow to reheat between batches. What causes that?
Almost always scale on the heating element, which insulates it from the water and stretches out recovery. We drain and descale the tank, clear the hard scale off the element, and replace the element if it is pitted. The thermostat is checked against a calibrated probe before we close up.
The PBC-1A touchscreen has frozen. Does it need a new screen?
Usually not. Most frozen screens are a firmware hang that clears with a controlled reset and, if needed, a reflash from a known-good image. If the digitizer itself has failed it is a display-module swap. We back up your brew profiles before any firmware work.
My PBC-1A lost its programmed batch sizes after a power outage. Why?
The backup capacitor or coin cell on the control board has died, which is common past the five-year mark. We re-enter the batch sizes, pulse-brew profiles, and temperature offsets, then renew the backup power source so the settings survive the next outage.
The shuttle on my PBC-1A is not holding temperature. Repair or replace?
We check before we condemn it. A tired lid gasket or a clogged dispense valve is a quick repair, but if the inner vessel has lost its vacuum, usually after a drop, a new shuttle costs less than a service call that returns twice. We pressure-test it and give you the honest call.
The warmer base under my PBC-1A shuttle stopped heating. Can you fix it?
Yes. After thousands of cycles a warmer element eventually goes open-circuit. We read its resistance, check the base thermostat, fit a new element, and inspect the shuttle-to-base connection pins for corrosion while we are in there.
How often does a single-head PBC-1A need descaling?
It depends on your water and your volume. A single head doing steady batches on harder York Region water can need a descale every couple of months, while softer Toronto water stretches that out. We check scale condition on each visit and set an interval that matches your actual supply.
How much does a repair visit cost?
Flat rate for the visit, parts billed at their actual cost on top. You'll hear the rate when you book, and for bigger jobs we quote in writing on-site before any work starts. No estimate that balloons mid-job.
How fast can you get here?
Same-day. Call in the morning and a technician is usually on-site before the day is out; calls placed later in the day book for the next morning. Urgent breakdowns get priority routing.
Which areas do you cover?

Do I need a service contract?
No. We work call by call. Plenty of customers put us on a maintenance schedule eventually, but that's their choice after seeing the work, never a requirement.
Are the repairs warrantied?
Parts carry their manufacturer warranty, and we stand behind our labour: if the same fault recurs, call us and we'll review it. Specific terms are discussed upfront on each job, not promised in marketing copy.
Do you repair on-site or take the machine away?
On-site whenever possible, which is most of the time. If a job genuinely needs the bench, like a full boiler rebuild or major electronics work, we'll say so before anything leaves your building.
How do I book a service call?
Call us or send the form on this page. We confirm the machine, the fault, and a time window the same day. If it's urgent, say so and we'll route the nearest technician.
What happens on the first visit?
Diagnosis first: we confirm the fault, tell you what caused it, and quote the fix before touching a wrench. Most repairs finish in that same visit because the common wear parts ride on the truck.
Do you carry parts or order them in?
High-wear parts for the platforms we service constantly ride on the truck. Anything else we order, usually next-day where suppliers allow, and we tell you the lead time before committing you to anything.
My machine is older or out of production. Will you still look at it?
Usually, yes. We service legacy machines for as long as parts can be sourced, and we're honest when a repair stops making financial sense against a replacement. You get the math, you make the call.
Are you cheaper than the manufacturer's service network?
Often, but that's not the pitch. We quote against the actual work, not a factory pricing book, and we'll tell you when a manufacturer warranty claim is the better route. Transparency is the value; the price usually follows.
Can you train our staff so this doesn't happen again?
Yes, and we do it by default on the way out. Half of repeat faults trace back to skipped daily cleaning or wrong routine, so the technician walks your team through what actually matters before leaving.
