Nuova Simonelli faults we diagnose

Common Nuova Simonelli issues we fix in Hamilton.

Every issue below comes with a description of what causes it and what we do to resolve it. If yours isn't listed, call us anyway.

Electronics, grinder & other 4 issues
!

Volumetric dose programming drifting on Aurelia Wave

Mineral deposit coats the flow meter impellers until the pulse counts stop matching reality, and the controller reads that as dose drift. We pull and clean each flow meter, reinstall, and reprogram the doses by weight against a 1:2 ratio target. If drift comes back after a cleaning, the meter itself is worn and we'll quote a replacement.

!

Wave Digit touchscreen freezing or unresponsive

Most frozen Wave Digit screens are firmware hangs; the rest are hardware faults in the display module. We hard-reset the controller, check the firmware against the latest stable build, and reflash where needed. A failed digitizer means a replacement display module, which we source before the machine goes back into service.

!

Lighted button on group head not illuminating or not registering presses

Steam migrates into the button assembly over a couple of years and corrodes its way through contacts, LEDs, and microswitches. We pull the assembly, clean the contacts, and replace whatever has failed. While the front panel is off, the whole button bank gets checked so you're not calling us back for the next one.

!

Older Aurelia or Mac 2000 needing parts no longer stocked

Plenty of shops have stopped supporting these machines; we haven't. Original-spec parts come out of refurbisher networks, decommissioned units we've documented, or validated aftermarket equivalents for gicleurs, OPVs, gaskets, and solenoids. When a repair stops being economical, you'll hear it from us straight.

Milk & steam 2 issues
!

Easy Cream auto-frother producing weak or no foam

Milk residue collects in the air-intake line and steam venturi until the airflow that builds microfoam can't get through. We strip the Easy Cream module, sanitize the milk pathway end to end, and replace worn O-rings along with the air-intake check valve. A calibration cycle with fresh milk proves the foam before we leave.

!

Steam wand dripping after shutoff

A worn steam valve cartridge, or a flake of milk-stone holding the seat open. We rebuild the valve with a fresh cartridge kit, descale the steam tip and pathway, and watch the boiler gauge to confirm the shutoff holds pressure. The cool-touch wand insulation gets checked while we're in there.

Brew system & pressure 4 issues
!

Soft Infusion pre-infusion not engaging on Aurelia Wave

Nine times out of ten it's a stuck or burnt-out pre-infusion solenoid coil. We find the failing solenoid by listening for actuation under load, swap the coil or the full solenoid, and confirm the Soft Infusion pressure curve on a portafilter gauge. If the Wave Digit electronics need it, pre-infusion timing gets reprogrammed in the same visit.

!

Group head gasket leak with portafilter locked in

Gaskets on a busy machine are good for 6 to 12 months, then they spit water past the portafilter no matter how hard staff crank it. We back-flush the group with cafiza, pull the dispersion screen and screw, fit a new group gasket, and clean the coffee oil off the threads. Five test shots confirm a clean seal, and the screen is replaced if it's dimpled or perforated.

!

Brew pressure low or fluctuating during extraction

Rotary pump wear, or an OPV bypass that has drifted off its setting. We measure brew pressure at the portafilter with a calibrated gauge, set the OPV back to 9 bar, and run the pump under sustained load to see what it can actually deliver. Below spec, it gets replaced, and head pressure has to hold steady before we close up.

!

Gicleur or expansion valve restricting flow on one group

When one group pours slow and weak while the others run normally, scale or coffee fines have usually part-blocked that group's gicleur. We pull it, clear it ultrasonically, inspect and clean the expansion valve, and check the flow rate group by group against spec.

Water, boiler & heating 3 issues
!

T3 multi-boiler temperature drift between groups

Every group on the Aurelia Wave runs its own micro-boiler and NTC sensor, so one drifted sensor is enough to make two groups pull noticeably different shots. We test each sensor against a calibrated reference probe, descale the affected group boilers, and recalibrate the T3 PID offsets in the service menu. Before we pack up, shot-to-shot temperature has to hold steady across all groups.

!

Steam boiler slow to recover or pressure dropping under load

Scale on the steam element is the usual culprit once a machine is past its first descale interval, with electrical degradation of the element close behind. We descale the steam circuit, test element resistance, replace the element if it's drawing low, and check the pressure stat for drift. Recovery time gets benchmarked against spec before the panels go back on.

!

Water pooling under the machine, source unclear

The usual suspects are a detached or kinked drain hose, a leaking three-way valve discharge, or a weeping fitting on the heat exchanger. We pressure-test the brew and steam circuits separately and dye-trace the chassis to find the actual leak point, then replace the failed fitting rather than just retightening it. Drain routing gets corrected before the machine goes back to work.

Don't see your issue? Call (289) 217-3796 with a description of what's happening and any error codes on screen. We'll likely diagnose it before we arrive.

Nuova Simonelli service in Hamilton, frequently asked.

23 answers covering response time, pricing, parts, installation, and the Hamilton service area.

Updated July 2026

Do you service Nuova Simonelli machines in Hamilton?

Hamilton is one of our regular Nuova Simonelli service routes. The full lineup is in scope, legacy and discontinued platforms included. And because we're independent of Nuova Simonelli (no affiliation, no authorization claim), machines outside the manufacturer's service network are no problem.

Do you work weekends or evenings in Hamilton?

Yes. Off-hours service runs on a priority basis with a small surcharge that we mention before dispatch, not after. Most of our weekend and evening Hamilton calls are hospitality operators who can't take downtime during business hours.

Can you train Hamilton staff after a Nuova Simonelli installation?

Yes. Every Hamilton installation includes operator training on daily cleaning, basic troubleshooting, drink programming, and what to watch for. After a repair, the technician walks your staff through what was fixed and what to monitor in the coming weeks. Refresher training is available on request.

What if my Nuova Simonelli is still under manufacturer warranty?

Manufacturer warranties typically restrict who can service the machine without affecting coverage. Try the Nuova Simonelli authorized network first. If they're days out or won't cover the issue, call us and we'll service it on our standard flat-rate pricing.

How are Nuova Simonelli repairs billed on Hamilton calls?

Simply. One flat rate for the visit, parts itemized at their actual cost, and no estimate that balloons mid-job. The invoice reflects what the work actually took.

When is replacing the machine cheaper than repairing it?

When the repair gets close to half the cost of a refurbished replacement, or the machine is past 10 years of heavy daily use with multiple major systems failing, replacement usually wins. We give honest math on the trade-off rather than chasing a repair that's about to need another one.

Which business districts in Hamilton do you service most often?

Most of our Hamilton Nuova Simonelli call volume comes out of Downtown Hamilton core, Stoney Creek industrial area, Ancaster Business Park, McMaster Innovation Park. Office cafeterias, hotel programs, and restaurant operators in these clusters keep a steady rotation running through Hamilton.

Do I have to sign a maintenance contract?

No, we don't require contracts. Some customers run on scheduled maintenance because it pays back through machine longevity. Plenty of others call only when something fails. Both paths are fine with us.

How does payment and invoicing work for Hamilton businesses?

Business customers in Hamilton are billed on a monthly statement, payable by e-transfer, cheque, ACH, or credit card. First-time work is typically invoiced on completion, with terms shifting to net billing once the account is established.

Are you authorized or certified by Nuova Simonelli?

We're not authorized or certified by Nuova Simonelli, and we'd rather say that plainly than fake credentials. We're independent. What you're paying for is platform expertise (we work on Nuova Simonelli constantly) plus the transparency and flexibility an independent shop can offer.

Do you use genuine OEM Nuova Simonelli parts?

For the parts where it matters, yes: brew units, electronic boards, sensors, pumps, motors. For commodity items like O-rings and tubing, industry-standard parts that meet or exceed OEM spec sometimes get your machine running sooner, and we use those when they do. The choice shows on the invoice.

What if my Nuova Simonelli is out of warranty?

Then you're our typical Hamilton customer. Out-of-warranty Nuova Simonelli machines are the bulk of our service work, and they get the same treatment as anything else: real diagnostics, genuine parts where it matters, flat-rate visit with parts billed separately.

Can you help with water filtration in Hamilton?

Yes. Hard to very hard, 140 to 180 mg/L CaCO3 typical from the Hamilton municipal supply (Lake Ontario sourced via the Woodward water treatment plant on Hamilton Harbour) That water profile drives your descaling interval and your boiler element's life expectancy. We test on-site, spec a cartridge or softener sized to your daily volume, and install or service it as part of regular maintenance.

How does Nuova Simonelli service pricing work in Hamilton?

The same in Hamilton as everywhere else: flat rate for the visit, parts billed separately. Smaller repairs just get invoiced after the work. Bigger jobs get a written quote on-site before any major work begins.

Can you install a new Nuova Simonelli machine in Hamilton?

Yes, site survey through commissioning, end to end. We assess power and water, spec the right filtration, run the plumbing and electrical hookup, calibrate every drink profile, and train your staff before sign-off. Multi-unit rollouts across Hamilton get coordinated scheduling.

Do Hamilton hospitality customers get priority?

Yes. Hamilton hospitality accounts (hotels, restaurants, cafes, QSR) get priority dispatch and a contact who knows your machines. Scheduled maintenance lands in your slowest service window, and emergency calls during peak hours jump the queue.

How fast can you get to a Nuova Simonelli call in Hamilton?

Most Hamilton Nuova Simonelli calls are answered same day where possible, sometimes next business day. Urgent calls placed before noon usually get same-day on-site response. When you book, we lock in an arrival window and text you when the technician is en route.

Do you offer same-day emergency repair in Hamilton?

For most Nuova Simonelli calls in Hamilton, yes, when scheduling allows. If the fault needs a part we don't carry on the truck, we diagnose on the first visit and return the next business day to finish the repair.

Can you service multiple Nuova Simonelli machines in one visit?

Yes, and the per-machine cost typically drops once we're already on-site. Common for Hamilton office buildings with multiple floors, hotel groups with several locations, and restaurant groups. Tell us how many machines and where when you book.

Do you offer preventive maintenance for Nuova Simonelli in Hamilton?

Yes, scheduled to your actual daily volume rather than a one-size-fits-all calendar. High-volume machines get quarterly visits, lighter-use machines run twice a year. Each visit covers descaling, brew unit service, milk system sanitation, and calibration.

Do your technicians carry Nuova Simonelli parts on the truck?

For the Nuova Simonelli parts we replace most often, yes. Seals, gaskets, milk system components, common solenoids, and basic sensors travel with the technician. Specialty parts (specific control boards, full brew unit assemblies) get sourced overnight.

Can you service older or discontinued Nuova Simonelli models?

Yes. Nuova Simonelli platforms the authorized network has stopped supporting are a regular part of our week. Parts no longer in production come from refurbisher networks, decommissioned-unit salvage, or aftermarket equivalents where the spec genuinely matches.

Which Hamilton neighborhoods do you cover?

We cover Hamilton broadly, with regular service in Downtown Hamilton, Westdale, Dundas, Ancaster, Stoney Creek, Waterdown, and other neighborhoods on request. At the edge of Hamilton and not sure? Call with your postal code and we'll tell you straight.
