Pre-infusion solenoid not engaging
A failed pre-infusion solenoid. We replace it and verify the pressure curve on a portafilter gauge.

Competition-grade espresso
A Specialty RS1 throwing temperature on one group can stall a competition bar that lives on consistency. We repair this micro-boiler platform: a drifted sensor or a failed element in a group's dual-element pair, a sticking pre-infusion solenoid, brew pressure off 9 bar, a steam valve that drips. Tell us which group and we'll arrive ready to test elements side by side.

Rancilio · Competition-tier traditional espresso
The Specialty RS1 is Rancilio's competition-tier platform, with a stainless micro-boiler in every group. Each group carries two heating elements, holding the brew water and the group body tight to setpoint, which is why competition programs and training rooms run it. Rancilio uses it for its own Specialist barista program. On the bench the RS1 is its own animal: dual-element testing per group, micro-boiler offsets, and pre-infusion solenoids are the work that sets it apart from the rest of the range.
Why Grajqevci
Call in the morning and a technician is usually on-site before the day is out. Most Rancilio Specialty RS1 jobs get diagnosed and fixed on the first visit.
Commercial coffee equipment is all we do, and Rancilio Specialty RS1 is one of the platforms we know best. Not a generalist guessing at a service manual. Genuine OEM parts, industry-standard procedures.
Flat rate for the visit, with parts billed separately. For bigger jobs you'll see a written quote on-site before we proceed.

Specialty RS1 faults we diagnose
Below are the Specialty RS1 faults that fill our service log, from micro-boiler drift to a dripping steam valve, with the cause and the fix for each.
A failed pre-infusion solenoid. We replace it and verify the pressure curve on a portafilter gauge.
A worn group gasket. We back-flush, fit a fresh gasket, and check lock-up.
A clogged dispersion screen. We soak it in cafiza and replace it if it's dimpled.
Pump wear. We measure brew pressure, set the OPV to 9 bar, and replace the pump if it's below spec.
A clogged gicleur on one group. We pull and clean it ultrasonically, inspect the expansion valve, and check flow.
Each RS1 group carries its own micro-boiler with two heating elements, so a drifted sensor or element shows up as variance on just the affected group. We test each NTC against a reference probe, test both elements per group, descale, and recalibrate the offsets.
The RS1's dual-element design gives redundancy and faster recovery, so one failed element keeps the group running in compensation while recovery slows. We test both elements, replace the failed one, and verify recovery time against spec.
A scaled steam element. We descale the circuit and replace the element if it's drawing low.
A weeping fitting around the group manifold. We pressure-test each group circuit on its own, dye-trace, and replace the fitting rather than just retighten it.
A scaled level probe or a fill solenoid leaking past. We clean the probe and replace the solenoid.
A tired steam valve cartridge. We rebuild it with a fresh kit.
A scaled element. We descale it, test resistance, and replace it if it's drawing low.
NTC drift or a corroded connector. We test the NTC against the resistance table, reseat the connector, and replace the sensor if it's out of spec.
We read the fault log, fix the root cause, and reflash or replace the board only if the diagnostic points there.
The flow meters have mineralized. We clean each one and reprogram the doses by weight.
Cosmetic only. We swap the group exteriors for original-spec parts when you want them changed.

Each RS1 group has its own micro-boiler with two elements, so a drifted sensor or a failed element shows up on just that group. We test the NTC against a reference, test both elements, descale, and recalibrate the offsets. The other groups keep working while we do it.
The dual-element design keeps the group running on the remaining element, but recovery slows and you'll notice it under load. We test both elements, replace the failed one, and verify recovery time against spec. It's a designed-in safety net, not a reason to panic.
The per-group micro-boilers and dual-element layout aren't something a generalist sees often. Reading the per-group sensors, testing elements side by side, and recommissioning offsets all take familiarity with this platform. That's the work we do on it regularly.
It's built for competition-grade consistency, which is why training rooms and advanced specialty cafes run it too. The same thermal stability that wins on a competition bar makes for very repeatable shots day to day. We service it in both settings.
Usually a failed pre-infusion solenoid on the affected group. We replace it and verify the pre-infusion curve on a portafilter gauge. If more than one group is affected, we check the controller output driving them.
It's rated up to around 350 shots a day, and the per-group micro-boilers hold temperature well across that. It's tuned more for precision than for sheer volume; for very high throughput the Classe 9 or 20 is the heavier-duty choice.
Not necessarily. It's often NTC sensor drift or a corroded connector rather than the micro-boiler itself. We test the sensor against the resistance table, reseat the connector, and replace the sensor only if it's genuinely out of spec.
Yes. The RS1 is well supported and we service it regularly, sourcing parts as needed and keeping the per-group circuits in calibration. If anything major ever stops making sense to repair, we'll tell you straight.
Flat rate for the visit, parts billed at their actual cost on top. You'll hear the rate when you book, and for bigger jobs we quote in writing on-site before any work starts. No estimate that balloons mid-job.
Same-day. Call in the morning and a technician is usually on-site before the day is out; calls placed later in the day book for the next morning. Urgent breakdowns get priority routing.
The GTA and most of the Golden Horseshoe: Toronto through Mississauga, Vaughan, and Markham, out to Oshawa, Hamilton, and Niagara. If you're not sure you're in range, call and we'll tell you straight.
No. We work call by call. Plenty of customers put us on a maintenance schedule eventually, but that's their choice after seeing the work, never a requirement.
Parts carry their manufacturer warranty, and we stand behind our labour: if the same fault recurs, call us and we'll review it. Specific terms are discussed upfront on each job, not promised in marketing copy.
On-site whenever possible, which is most of the time. If a job genuinely needs the bench, like a full boiler rebuild or major electronics work, we'll say so before anything leaves your building.
Call us or send the form on this page. We confirm the machine, the fault, and a time window the same day. If it's urgent, say so and we'll route the nearest technician.
Diagnosis first: we confirm the fault, tell you what caused it, and quote the fix before touching a wrench. Most repairs finish in that same visit because the common wear parts ride on the truck.
High-wear parts for the platforms we service constantly ride on the truck. Anything else we order, usually next-day where suppliers allow, and we tell you the lead time before committing you to anything.
Usually, yes. We service legacy machines for as long as parts can be sourced, and we're honest when a repair stops making financial sense against a replacement. You get the math, you make the call.
Often, but that's not the pitch. We quote against the actual work, not a factory pricing book, and we'll tell you when a manufacturer warranty claim is the better route. Transparency is the value; the price usually follows.
Yes, and we do it by default on the way out. Half of repeat faults trace back to skipped daily cleaning or wrong routine, so the technician walks your team through what actually matters before leaving.
