Heating
2 codesE01 Heating element / boiler temperature timeout
The hot-water tank hasn't reached set temperature within the allowed warm-up window. The controller cuts heating to protect the element.
Likely causes
- Heating element open or scaled to insulation
- High-limit (Klixon) thermostat tripped
- NTC temperature sensor reading low
- Tank under-filled at warm-up
Try this first
- Power-cycle the machine at the wall
- Verify the water supply is open and the tank is filling
- Check the visible high-limit thermostat for a tripped reset button
Most heating timeouts are element scale or a tripped Klixon. We descale, test the element, and replace whichever component is failing in a single visit.
E13 Steam boiler heating fault (Esprecious)
On Esprecious models with a separate steam boiler, the steam side hasn't reached pressure within the allowed time. Steam and hot-water functions are disabled.
Likely causes
- Steam-boiler element open or scaled
- Steam-side NTC out of spec
- Klixon on the steam boiler tripped
- Pressure switch failed
Try this first
- Power-cycle the machine
- Verify water is reaching the steam boiler
Same diagnostic flow as the main boiler. We isolate and replace the failed component.
Brew valve
1 codeE04 Brew valve fault
The brew valve solenoid is not responding to the controller's command, either not opening, not closing, or showing abnormal current draw.
Likely causes
- Brew valve coil open or shorted
- Solenoid driver on the controller failed
- Wiring loom disconnected
Try this first
- Power-cycle the machine
- Visually verify the brew valve wiring is seated
We test the coil and driver output and replace the failed component. Most Bravilor brew valves are stocked on the truck.
Brew chamber
2 codesE07 Esprecious / Sego brew unit home fault
The bean-to-cup brew unit hasn't returned to home position within the allowed cycle time. Brew is disabled until the unit is verified at home.
Likely causes
- Grind buildup binding the brew piston
- Worn brew-unit cam followers
- Failed home-position microswitch
- Brew-unit drive motor weak
Try this first
- Power-cycle the machine to let the brew unit self-home
- Inspect the brew chamber for visible grind buildup
Brew-unit home faults usually mean seal wear plus switch drift. We pull the unit, replace seals, clean cam paths, and verify switch actuation.
E08 Esprecious / Sego brew unit motor timeout
The brew-unit drive motor is drawing current but the position hasn't advanced within the expected window. The controller cuts power to protect the motor.
Likely causes
- Mechanical bind from grind contamination
- Worn drive gear or cam
- Failed motor or capacitor
- Position sensor not reading transitions
Try this first
- Power-cycle and listen for normal motor sound
- Visually check for ground coffee jammed at the brew chamber
Motor timeout is mechanical. We service the brew unit end-to-end and replace the motor or gear if worn.
Grinder
1 codeE09 Grinder dose timeout
The grinder ran longer than the maximum allowed dose time without reaching target. The controller stops the grinder to protect the motor.
Likely causes
- Empty bean hopper or beans bridging above the throat
- Burrs at end of life
- Coffee oils contaminating the grind chamber
- Grinder motor weak
Try this first
- Verify beans are present and flowing
- Tap the hopper to break any bridge
- Inspect the grinder throat for clogging
If beans are flowing and the fault persists, burrs are worn or the motor is weak. We measure dose by weight and replace as needed.
Milk system
2 codesE14 Milk system pump or flow fault
On Esprecious and Sego, the milk pump isn't drawing or the milk flow meter isn't registering. Milk drinks are aborted.
Likely causes
- Milk container empty or suction line lifted
- Milk pump impeller worn
- Air leak in the suction line
- Milk pathway clogged with protein buildup
Try this first
- Confirm milk is present in the container
- Reseat the milk suction line and check seals
Most milk-pump faults resolve to a worn impeller or a clogged pathway. Daily cleaning prevents recurrence.
E15 Milk temperature out of range
The milk-heating circuit isn't reaching or holding the target temperature. The drink is dispensed at low temperature or aborted.
Likely causes
- Milk-side NTC out of spec
- Scale in the milk heat exchanger
- Milk pump flow too high for the heat exchanger
Try this first
- Power-cycle the machine
- Run a hot-milk test cycle and verify temperature at the spout

Electronics
1 codeE30 Communication fault between controller and display
The touchscreen display has lost serial communication with the main controller. Most functions are locked out.
Likely causes
- Ribbon cable unseated between display and main board
- Display module failed
- Firmware corruption

- Power-cycle the machine
- Verify the display cable is seated (where accessible)
Persistent communication faults usually need a ribbon swap, firmware reflash, or display module replacement.
Water
3 codesE03 Inlet fill timeout
The fill cycle hasn't completed within the allowed time. Either the inlet solenoid isn't passing water or the level probe isn't registering full.
Likely causes
- Supply tap closed or pressure too low
- Inlet solenoid scaled or stuck closed
- Inlet screen blocked with debris
- Level probe scaled or failed
Try this first
- Verify the building supply is open and the hose isn't kinked
- Listen for the inlet solenoid clicking on fill
- Inspect the inlet screen for debris
If the solenoid clicks but no water flows, the valve or screen is blocked. We clean both and replace the solenoid if it won't seat.
E12 Flow meter no pulses
The brew flow meter isn't sending pulses during dispense. The controller cannot measure volume and aborts the cycle.
Likely causes
- Flow meter turbine clogged with mineral deposits or coffee fines
- Pump losing prime or failed
- Flow meter cable disconnected
- Brew valve not opening
Try this first
- Listen for the pump priming on dispense attempt
- Run a hot-water dispense to check non-brew flow
Flow-meter cleaning is straightforward. Weak pumps are tested under load and replaced if output is below spec.
E20 Water filter exhausted / descale required
The cycle counter has reached the configured limit for filter replacement or descale. The machine continues to operate during a grace period.
Likely causes
- Filter cartridge actually exhausted
- Descale interval reached based on water-hardness setting
- Counter wasn't reset after the last service
Try this first
- Replace the filter cartridge if it's the filter alert
- Run the descale cycle to completion if descale is required
- Reset the counter through the service menu
If the alert won't clear after a valid service, we verify the counter reset and the water-hardness configuration.
Sensors
4 codesE02 Tank temperature sensor out of range
The NTC sensor in the tank is reading open-circuit or shorted. The controller cannot safely regulate heating and disables the element.
Likely causes
- NTC sensor failed
- Sensor cable damaged or chafed
- Connector unseated at the control board
Try this first
- Power-cycle the machine
- Visually inspect the sensor lead for damage
Open or shorted NTCs don't recover. We test resistance against the reference table and replace the sensor on-site.
E10 Waste / grout bin counter limit reached
On Esprecious and Sego, the spent-puck counter has reached the programmed limit. The machine refuses to dispense until the bin is emptied and the counter resets.
Likely causes
- Bin is full and needs emptying
- Bin counter wasn't reset after the last empty
- Bin-presence microswitch reading the bin as absent
Try this first
- Empty the waste bin and refit fully seated
- Cycle the bin out and back in to retrigger the microswitch
If the alert persists after a clean empty, the microswitch is failing. Quick on-site replacement.
E11 Drip tray full or missing
The drip-tray float or presence sensor is signalling full or absent tray. The machine prompts the operator to empty and reseat.
Likely causes
- Drip tray actually full
- Float stuck on coffee residue
- Tray-presence microswitch contaminated
Try this first
- Empty the drip tray and rinse the float
- Reseat the tray firmly
Persistent alert with a clean empty means the float or microswitch is sticking. On-site repair.
E16 Door open during operation
The cabinet door has been opened during a cycle or is reading as open. Moving parts are halted for safety.
Likely causes
- Door not closed fully
- Door microswitch contaminated or misaligned
- Switch wiring loose
Try this first
- Open and close the door firmly until the latch engages
- Inspect the switch arm for debris
Persistent door fault with the door closed needs the switch cleaned or replaced. Five-minute fix.
Connectivity
1 codeE40 Payment / MDB peripheral fault
The machine has lost communication with the payment peripheral (coin mech, bill validator, or cashless reader). Cashless transactions are disabled.
Likely causes
- Peripheral cable unseated
- Payment device powered off or failed
- Cashless reader firmware mismatch
Try this first
- Power-cycle the machine and the payment device
- Reseat the peripheral cable at both ends
We test the MDB bus voltage and trace the harness. Cable seating before board failure.
Other
4 codesE05 Whipper / mixer motor fault (Bolero)
On Bolero instant-beverage machines, the whipper bowl motor isn't running or isn't reaching speed. Drink production is disabled.
Likely causes
- Whipper motor failed
- Bowl not seated or clipped in fully
- Drive coupling worn
- Motor capacitor failed
Try this first
- Remove and refit the whipper bowl, confirming the clip engages
- Inspect the impeller for free rotation
Bolero whipper motors are wear items. We test under load and replace if speed is below spec.
E06 Canister auger / dosing fault (Bolero)
An instant-product canister hasn't dosed correctly during a drink cycle. The drink is aborted to avoid serving an incomplete cup.
Likely causes
- Canister empty
- Powder bridged above the auger from humidity
- Auger drive coupling slipping
- Auger motor weak
Try this first
- Refill the canister and tap to break any bridge
- Inspect the powder shoot for downstream blockage
Persistent canister bridging in humid sites needs a desiccant or seal upgrade. Auger motor and coupling are field-serviceable.
E25 Cleaning cycle aborted or not completed
The scheduled or manual cleaning cycle didn't complete. The machine may lock out dispense if cleaning is overdue.
Likely causes
- Cleaning chemical canister empty or not detected
- Cleaning circuit blockage stalling the cycle
- Power interruption mid-cycle
- Level sensor in the cleaning tank reading incorrectly
Try this first
- Verify the cleaning chemical is present and dosing
- Re-initiate the cleaning cycle from the service menu

Service Counter Reached Scheduled maintenance interval reached
