Bravilor Bonamat · Single-decanter filter brewer

The Mondo 1.

The Mondo 1 is Bravilor's single-decanter filter brewer, a 1.8-litre tank feeding one sprayhead and one warmer. It runs on pre-ground coffee in offices and light hospitality, brewing up to eighteen litres an hour without a grinder or a screen to fuss over. There isn't much to it, which is the point: keep the tank descaled and the sprayhead clear and one of these pours good coffee for years.

Mondo 1 faults we diagnose

Common Mondo 1 faults, and how we fix them.

These are the Mondo 1 faults we meet on real service calls, each with the cause behind it and how we clear it.

Brew system & pressure 2 issues
!

Weak or uneven coffee from clogged sprayhead

Scale has closed the sprayhead holes. We pull it, descale, clear each hole, and confirm an even spray across the basket.

!

Brew valve stuck closed or leaking past

Coil failure or a hardened diaphragm. We measure coil resistance and replace the diaphragm or the whole valve assembly.

Water, boiler & heating 9 issues
!

Brewer slow to heat

Scale insulates the immersion element and recovery drops. We drain and descale the tank, test the element, and replace it if the scale damage is permanent.

!

Boil-dry cutout tripping

Usually a float or refill fault starving the tank. We check the inlet and float operation, confirm the tank fills, then reset the high-limit cutout.

!

Decanter warmer not heating

Open warmer element. We confirm it with a resistance test and fit a replacement.

!

Filter basket overflow or grounds in decanter

Grind too fine, the wrong paper, or an uneven spray. We check the spray, switch to the correct paper, and dial in the grind.

!

Coffee not reaching brew temperature

Element scale or a drifting thermostat. We descale and check the thermostat against a calibrated probe.

!

Descale alert recurring

The cycle counter was rarely reset. We confirm the descale ran and reset the counter through the service menu.

!

Heavy scale visible

Hard water and no filtration. We descale the machine and recommend a conditioning cartridge to slow it down.

!

Float stuck, overfilling

Scale built up on the float stem. We clean the stem, or replace the float if it won't free up.

!

Warmer cycling too hot, coffee boiling over

Stuck warmer thermostat holding the plate on. We replace it.

Electronics, grinder & other 4 issues
!

Glass decanter cracked

Standard Bravilor decanters are stocked, so we simply replace it.

!

Brew won't start

A switch, sensor, or interlock in the brew circuit. We trace power through the circuit to the part that's broken it.

!

Tank probe contamination

Scale coating the probe surface. We clean it, or replace it if the reading stays off.

!

Older Mondo parts no longer available

We source from Bravilor's parts network or refurbisher inventory. If the repair stops making sense against a replacement, we tell you straight.

Bravilor Bonamat Mondo 1

FAQ

Bravilor Bonamat Mondo 1, frequently asked.

20 answers covering service, repair, parts, installation, warranty, and edge cases.

Updated August 2026

Why is my Mondo 1 brewing weak and watery?

Almost always a scaled sprayhead or a scaled tank element. When the holes close up, water stops landing evenly over the grounds, and when scale insulates the element the brew never reaches temperature. We descale both, clear the sprayhead, and confirm the brew comes back into the 92 to 96 degree window.

My Mondo 1 keeps tripping its boil-dry cutout. What's wrong?

The high-limit cutout trips when the tank runs low, usually because the float has stuck on scale or the inlet isn't keeping the tank full. We check the fill system and float, confirm the tank holds level, and reset the cutout. If the float won't free up, we replace it.

The brew valve on my Mondo 1 drips from the sprayhead. Can you fix it?

Yes. A slow drip after the brew finishes means the valve diaphragm has hardened and stopped sealing. We measure the coil, then replace the diaphragm or the whole valve. Because Bravilor valves come apart, it's an affordable fix rather than a full assembly swap.

Why does my Mondo 1 basket overflow with grounds in the decanter?

Three usual causes: too fine a grind, the wrong filter paper, or an uneven spray dumping water in one spot. We check the spray, switch you to the correct paper, and ease the grind back. It's quick once we see which one it is.

Can you replace a cracked glass decanter on a Mondo 1?

Yes, standard Bravilor decanters are stocked and it's a straight swap. We also check the warmer thermostat while we're there, because a warmer stuck on full heat is what cooks coffee and cracks a lot of decanters in the first place.

My Mondo 1 won't start a brew at all. What do you check?

We trace power through the brew circuit: the start switch, the tank-full sensor, and the interlocks all have to be satisfied before it fires. Most no-start faults are a worn switch or a sensor reading the tank as empty. We find the break and replace the part.

How long should a Mondo 1 last?

Filter brewers this simple are durable, and a descaled one runs well past ten years. Scale is the only thing that really kills them, so on hard water the machines that get regular descaling and a filter cartridge outlast the ones that don't by years.

Do you carry Mondo 1 parts on the van?

The common ones, yes: sprayheads, brew valve diaphragms, elements, warmer thermostats, floats, and decanters all ride with us. That covers the large majority of Mondo 1 calls in a single trip. Anything unusual we order, normally for the next business day.

How much does a repair visit cost?

Flat rate for the visit, parts billed at their actual cost on top. You'll hear the rate when you book, and for bigger jobs we quote in writing on-site before any work starts. No estimate that balloons mid-job.

How fast can you get here?

Same-day. Call in the morning and a technician is usually on-site before the day is out; calls placed later in the day book for the next morning. Urgent breakdowns get priority routing.

Which areas do you cover?

The GTA and most of the Golden Horseshoe: Toronto through Mississauga, Vaughan, and Markham, out to Oshawa, Hamilton, and Niagara. If you're not sure you're in range, call and we'll tell you straight.

Do I need a service contract?

No. We work call by call. Plenty of customers put us on a maintenance schedule eventually, but that's their choice after seeing the work, never a requirement.

Are the repairs warrantied?

Parts carry their manufacturer warranty, and we stand behind our labour: if the same fault recurs, call us and we'll review it. Specific terms are discussed upfront on each job, not promised in marketing copy.

Do you repair on-site or take the machine away?

On-site whenever possible, which is most of the time. If a job genuinely needs the bench, like a full boiler rebuild or major electronics work, we'll say so before anything leaves your building.

How do I book a service call?

Call us or send the form on this page. We confirm the machine, the fault, and a time window the same day. If it's urgent, say so and we'll route the nearest technician.

What happens on the first visit?

Diagnosis first: we confirm the fault, tell you what caused it, and quote the fix before touching a wrench. Most repairs finish in that same visit because the common wear parts ride on the truck.

Do you carry parts or order them in?

High-wear parts for the platforms we service constantly ride on the truck. Anything else we order, usually next-day where suppliers allow, and we tell you the lead time before committing you to anything.

My machine is older or out of production. Will you still look at it?

Usually, yes. We service legacy machines for as long as parts can be sourced, and we're honest when a repair stops making financial sense against a replacement. You get the math, you make the call.

Are you cheaper than the manufacturer's service network?

Often, but that's not the pitch. We quote against the actual work, not a factory pricing book, and we'll tell you when a manufacturer warranty claim is the better route. Transparency is the value; the price usually follows.

Can you train our staff so this doesn't happen again?

Yes, and we do it by default on the way out. Half of repeat faults trace back to skipped daily cleaning or wrong routine, so the technician walks your team through what actually matters before leaving.
