Error code reference

Dalla Corte error codes, what they mean and how to fix them.

If your Dalla Corte is flashing a code mid-service, this page tells you what the machine is trying to say. Because every group carries its own boiler, sensor set, and PID, most coded faults point at one specific group rather than the whole machine, which is good news: the rest of the bar usually keeps pouring while you sort it out. Find your code below, run the safe checks, and call us when it crosses into tech work.

About these codes. Compiled from Dalla Corte service documentation, Franke parts portal references, North American distributor support, and our own service log. Display wording shifts between XT, Zero, and Evo2 firmware generations, so treat each entry as the family meaning. If what your machine shows doesn't match exactly, call us with the exact text. Updated July 2026

Boiler

1 code
E05 Heating timeout (any boiler) Critical

One of the boilers didn't reach its setpoint inside the heat-up window, and the display tells you which one.

Likely causes

  • Scale on the element
  • Degraded element
  • Sticking SSR (each boiler has its own)
  • Probe reading low

Try this first

  1. Check the descaling interval; every boiler needs its own descale schedule.
  2. Confirm the machine is on a dedicated circuit.
  3. Power-cycle and try a warm start.
When to call us

Element testing and SSR diagnosis is technician work. When we come out we check every boiler, not just the one that timed out.

Brew group

2 codes
E08 Brew solenoid / group lockout Warning

The controller commanded a brew cycle on a specific group and didn't see the expected actuation or flow.

Likely causes

  • Failed solenoid coil
  • Blown driver
  • Scale in the valve
  • Pump issue

Try this first

  1. Listen for the solenoid click.
  2. Use other groups while you wait.
  3. Don't try to bypass the solenoid.
When to call us

On the XT the brew solenoid sits alongside the flow regulator, so this is panels-off work. Call us; don't bypass anything.

E12 Pre-infusion solenoid fault Warning

The pre-infusion solenoid on one group isn't actuating in the expected sequence.

Likely causes

  • Failed solenoid coil (open)
  • Blown driver
  • Scale in the valve seat

Try this first

  1. Listen for pre-infusion to start.
  2. Don't disable pre-infusion to hide the fault.
  3. Note which group is affected.
When to call us

Pre-infusion solenoids are per-group on these machines. We test the coil and the driver, then replace or descale whichever is at fault.

Electronics

3 codes
E07 Flow meter not pulsing Warning

The flow meter on one group isn't sending pulses during a shot. On the XT, the real-time weight system can stand in for flow metering on profile shots, so dose-by-volume may be disabled while weight is in use.

Likely causes

  • Mineral buildup on impeller
  • Failed Hall sensor
  • Disconnected lead
  • Water quality

Try this first

  1. Note which group is affected.
  2. Switch to manual mode on that group if comfortable.
  3. Don't keep reprogramming doses.
When to call us

A meter swap is quick, but it's a planned tech visit. Until then, manual mode on the affected group keeps you serving.

E10 Inter-board communication fault Critical

The main controller has lost contact with a group board, the UI module, or the scale module.

Likely causes

  • Unseated inter-board cable
  • Water damage on a satellite board
  • Failed satellite board

Try this first

  1. Power-cycle from the main switch.
  2. Note what's still responsive; that tells the tech which board to suspect.
  3. Don't open the machine yourself.
When to call us

Boards come through the Franke parts network and lead times can stretch, so call early and we'll confirm availability before the visit.

E11 XT scale module / load cell fault Warning

On the XT, the real-time scale isn't registering weight changes, or its load-cell readings are jumping around.

Likely causes

  • Dirty scale platform
  • Debris under the cup support
  • Drifted calibration
  • Failed load cell

Try this first

  1. Clean the scale platform and remove any debris.
  2. Don't lean on or use the scale platform to support tools.
  3. Confirm the cup is sitting flat on the support.
When to call us

Re-zeroing and recalibration with reference weights is tech work, and load cells are precision parts. If cleaning the platform doesn't settle it, book the visit.

Water

1 code
E06 Level probe / autofill timeout Critical

Autofill ran past its safety window without the level probe registering full, and the display identifies which boiler. The machine stops filling to protect the pump.

Likely causes

  • Scaled level probe
  • Failed inlet solenoid for that boiler
  • Closed inlet shutoff or low feed pressure
  • Slow internal leak

Try this first

  1. Confirm the inlet shutoff is open.
  2. Look under the machine for water.
  3. Don't let the pump run dry.
When to call us

Each boiler has its own probe and inlet solenoid, so this needs multi-boiler diagnosis rather than a single-boiler guess. If there's water under the machine, mention it when you call.

Pressure

1 code
E09 Brew pressure / profile fault Warning

On the Mina and XT with manual flow regulation, brew pressure isn't following the expected profile during the shot.

Likely causes

  • Expansion valve out of adjustment
  • Rotary pump wear
  • Scale in the brew circuit
  • Sticking manual flow regulator

Try this first

  1. Note whether the manual flow regulator feels stiff or sticky.
  2. Don't force the lever if it's binding.
  3. Watch the panel gauge during a shot.
When to call us

The manual flow regulators use precision needle-valve geometry, and disassembly is service work. If the lever binds, stop using that group and call.

Sensors

4 codes
E01 Group 1 boiler NTC out of range Critical

The NTC temperature probe on Group 1's brew boiler is reading open or shorted, so the controller locks that group out. The other groups stay live.

Likely causes

  • Failed NTC probe
  • Broken lead at the boiler flange
  • Moisture in the connector
  • Probe drifted out of tolerance

Try this first

  1. Use the other groups while you wait for service.
  2. Don't try to swap probes between groups.
  3. Power-cycle once to confirm the fault isn't transient.
When to call us

The probe needs testing at the controller, and after replacement the group's PID offset has to be re-baselined with a Scace device. Both are service-call work.

E02 Group 2 boiler NTC out of range Critical

Same family as E01, one group over: the NTC on Group 2's brew boiler is out of range and Group 2 locks out.

Likely causes

  • Failed NTC
  • Lead break
  • Connector moisture
  • Scale drift

Try this first

  1. Use Group 1 (and Group 3 on 3-group machines) while you wait.
  2. Note whether E01 has also been intermittent; sequential failures suggest a common moisture path.
When to call us

Group 2 needs probe testing and likely replacement, then a PID re-baseline. Call us and keep pouring on the groups that still work.

E03 Group 3 boiler NTC out of range (XT 3-group, Icon 3-group) Critical

The NTC on Group 3's brew boiler is out of range. On a 3-group rotation Group 3 often works hardest, so slightly faster probe wear is normal.

Likely causes

  • Failed NTC
  • Lead break
  • Connector moisture
  • Scale drift

Try this first

  1. Use Group 1 and 2 while waiting.
  2. Power-cycle once.
  3. Note timing if the fault clears briefly.
When to call us

Probe testing and replacement, the same procedure as E01. It's a service call, not a counter-side fix.

E04 Steam boiler NTC out of range Critical

The steam boiler's NTC probe is out of range, so the steam side locks out while the brew groups stay live.

Likely causes

  • Failed NTC
  • Broken lead
  • Connector moisture
  • Scale drift

Try this first

  1. Confirm espresso shots still pull; they should.
  2. Don't keep power-cycling.
  3. Note the timing if the fault is intermittent.
When to call us

Steam-side probes run hotter and fail sooner than brew-side ones. Replacement is service-call work, so book it rather than power-cycling around it.

Other

1 code
Service Maintenance interval reached Info

A maintenance counter has hit its threshold: shots pulled, water volume, or descale hours. It's a reminder, not an active fault.

Likely causes

  • Programmed shot threshold
  • Descale timer elapsed
  • Water filter counter elapsed

Try this first

  1. Note which counter triggered.
  2. Confirm hardness setting matches the installed filter.
  3. Don't reset without doing the work.
When to call us

Dalla Corte's brew-boiler service intervals are deliberately aggressive, and stretching them shows up later as scale damage. If you want the interval changed, have us confirm your water quality first.

FAQ

Dalla Corte error codes, frequently asked.

9 answers about resetting codes, recurring faults, firmware versions, and when DIY ends.

Updated July 2026

What does Dalla Corte error code E01 mean?

Every documented Dalla Corte fault we see is listed above, with its meaning, common causes, and what to try before calling a technician. If the code on your machine isn't on this page, call us with the exact display string and we'll work it out by phone.

Can I clear or reset a Dalla Corte error code myself?

Sometimes. Many Dalla Corte codes clear after a power cycle, a completed descale, or a counter reset through the service menu. Codes tied to a hardware fault (failed sensor, blown element, board issue) will return immediately and need a technician. Each code above lists what's safe to try first.

Why does the same Dalla Corte error keep coming back?

A code that returns after a power cycle is signalling a real fault, not a glitch. The underlying part (sensor, heating element, valve, motor, board) needs replacement. Repeat codes are diagnostic gold for us, so call with the exact code and any timing or symptom pattern you've noticed.

My Dalla Corte code isn't listed. Why?

Dalla Corte updates fault tables across firmware revisions and model generations, and not every code is documented publicly. We see codes in the field that aren't in any published list. Call us with the exact display string and the model and we'll work it out from our service log.

How fast can you get on-site if I'm stuck on an error code?

Most calls in Toronto and the immediate GTA get same-day on-site response when scheduling allows. Tell us the code and the model when you book and we'll bring the right parts on the first visit so the repair finishes the same day in most cases.

Do I need to be authorized by Dalla Corte to reset an error code?

No. We're an independent service provider, not affiliated with Dalla Corte, and we work on machines outside the manufacturer's authorized network routinely. That independence lets us service older or out-of-warranty machines authorized networks may decline, and quote transparently every time.

Is it worth fixing an old Dalla Corte machine that keeps throwing codes?

Depends on the machine, the code, and the cost. We give you honest math on this. If repairs are starting to exceed roughly 50% of a refurbished replacement and multiple major systems are throwing codes, we'll tell you it's time to look at replacing rather than running up the repair bill.

Will independent service void my Dalla Corte warranty?

If your machine is under the manufacturer's warranty, independent service may affect coverage depending on Dalla Corte's specific terms. Try the manufacturer's authorized network first. If their response is slow or they decline coverage for your code, call us and we'll service it on standard terms.

How many Dalla Corte codes are documented on this page?

13 codes are documented above, organized by the system they affect. The list is compiled from manufacturer service literature, technician forums, and our own service log. We update it as new codes appear or firmware adds new states.
