Flagship espresso, fixed on bar

The GTA's go-to for Dalla Corte XT repair.

When an XT misbehaves, it's rarely shy about it: one group runs cold, the scale stops agreeing with the shot, the flow lever goes stiff. We repair XT Barista and Classic machines at the counter, group boilers and PIDs, weight modules, regulators, steam valves. The other groups keep serving while we work.

Dalla Corte · Multi-group flagship with independent boilers, weight system, Barista / Classic trims

The XT.

The XT is Dalla Corte's multi-group flagship, rated for up to 400 shots a day. Every group carries its own 0.5 L brew boiler, element, and PID, the Barista trim adds manual flow regulation, and the integrated real-time weight system is what sets the platform apart. Competition baristas and busy specialty bars run them, and on the bench the faults sort neatly by group, which keeps diagnosis honest.

XT faults we diagnose

Common XT faults, group by group.

Every fault below comes off real XT service calls, with the cause we usually find and the fix that follows.

Brew system & pressure 5 issues
!

Manual flow regulator on one group sticking

Same needle-valve architecture as the Mina, repeated per group. Sediment, scale, or seat wear causes the sticking; we disassemble the regulator, clean it, fit a new seal kit, and verify smooth modulation through the whole range.

!

Group gasket leak on one or more groups

Standard wear, and it comes faster under high volume. We replace the gaskets and dispersion screens on the affected groups and test the seal under brew pressure.

!

Channelling visible through one group's screen

Oil and fines clogging the dispersion screen. A new screen and a detergent backflush put that group right.

!

Pre-infusion drifting from setpoint on one group

Could be a failed pre-infusion solenoid, expansion-valve drift, or a pump issue. We work through the pre-infusion circuit, test the solenoid's actuation, gauge brew pressure, and recalibrate or replace whatever the tests condemn.

!

Brew pressure inconsistent across groups

Pump wear, expansion-valve drift, or scale in the brew circuit. We gauge each group, measure rotary pump output, and adjust the expansion valve, with a pump replacement quoted only if the output really is below spec.

Water, boiler & heating 5 issues
!

One group's brew boiler temperature drifting

Each XT group runs its own boiler, NTC sensor, PID, and element, so drift on one group while the others hold steady isolates the fault for us. We test that group's components against a reference, recalibrate the PID, and replace whichever part is failing.

!

Steam boiler pressure low under peak demand

Scale, pressurestat drift, or element degradation. We descale the boiler, test the pressurestat at setpoint, and verify element resistance against spec.

!

Heat-up time longer than spec

Scale on one or more brew boiler elements is the usual culprit. Each boiler gets descaled individually, and we confirm heat-up timing afterwards.

!

Water leak under the machine

Pressure-testing each circuit isolates the source quickly. We replace the failed seals or fittings and confirm dry operation before we leave.

!

Drain backflow during heavy use

Drain plumbing that's undersized or partially blocked backs up exactly when you're busiest. We clear the line and recommend upsized plumbing if the original run can't carry your volume.

Milk & steam 2 issues
!

Steam valve cartridge worn

Routine cartridge wear. We rebuild the valve with the current Dalla Corte cartridge and confirm a dry shut-off.

!

Steam pressure weak after morning rush

The boiler isn't keeping up with sustained draw. We descale it, test the element, and verify the pressurestat so recovery holds through the next rush.

Electronics, grinder & other 4 issues
!

XT real-time weight scale reading incorrectly

The XT's integrated scale defines the platform, and calibration drift, dirty load cells, or controller offset are the usual reasons it misreads. We clean the platform, re-zero through the service menu, and recalibrate with reference weights. If a load cell has failed, you get a quote before we order it.

!

Dose programming drifting across groups

Flow meter buildup, group by group. We clean each meter and reprogram dose-per-button so all the groups agree again.

!

Controller display or touch unresponsive

We trace the fault to the board, the UI module, or the wiring between them, then replace only the failing component.

!

Level probe scaled on one boiler

Scale on the probe makes that boiler misjudge its own level. We descale or replace the probe and verify autofill cycles correctly.

FAQ

Dalla Corte XT, frequently asked.

21 answers covering service, repair, parts, installation, warranty, and edge cases.

Updated July 2026

Why is one group on my XT colder than the others?

Each XT group has its own boiler, NTC sensor, PID, and element, so one cold group means one failed component in that group's chain. We test all three against a reference and replace the one out of spec. The healthy groups keep serving while we do it.

What's wrong when the XT's built-in scale reads wrong or nothing at all?

Start with the boring causes: debris under the cup support and a dirty platform unsettle the load cells more often than anything electronic. Beyond that it's calibration drift or a failed load cell. We clean, re-zero through the service menu, recalibrate with reference weights, and quote a load cell only if the measurements demand it.

Why has the manual flow lever on my XT Barista gone stiff?

Scale, sediment, or seat wear inside the needle valve. Don't force it; a scored seat turns a cleaning job into a parts job. We disassemble the regulator, clean and inspect it, fit a new seal kit, and verify smooth modulation across the range.

Do you service both XT Barista and XT Classic?

Yes, they share the same chassis and boiler architecture, so one service visit covers either. The Barista adds manual flow regulation and the Classic runs programmable presets, and we carry parts for both trims. Tell us which one you run when you book.

Why do my XT's groups pull different shots from the same dial-in?

Because every group is its own boiler and flow path, they can genuinely drift apart: one PID runs warm, one flow meter under-counts, one regulator sticks. We measure temperature and pressure per group and bring the outliers back into agreement. If the grinder pair is part of it, we'll say so.

What is GCS on the XT and do you support it?

GCS is the grinder control link between the machine and Dalla Corte's DC grinders, keeping dose and grind in step. Yes, we service the integration along with the machine. When shots drift, we check both ends before blaming either.

Can you fix the MCS milk system on an XT?

Yes. The Milk Control System's usual complaint is foam that no longer matches the preset, which traces to probe drift or milk residue in the pathway. We clean the path, test the probe, and verify each preset against real milk before leaving.

How long do XT group gaskets last under heavy use?

On a 400-shot-a-day bar, expect 12 to 18 months, and less if the bar skips backflushing. Weeping around the portafilter is the early sign. We replace gaskets and dispersion screens per group and test the seal under brew pressure.

Is an XT worth repairing after eight or ten years?

Almost always. The platform is built for a 12-to-15-year life, parts flow through the Dalla Corte/Franke network, and most of what fails is sensors, seals, and valves rather than the chassis. We quote the repair and give you an honest read on remaining life.

How much does a repair visit cost?

Flat rate for the visit, parts billed at their actual cost on top. You'll hear the rate when you book, and for bigger jobs we quote in writing on-site before any work starts. No estimate that balloons mid-job.

How fast can you get here?

Same-day in most cases. Call in the morning and a technician is usually on-site before the day is out; calls placed later in the day book for the next morning. Urgent breakdowns get priority routing.

Which areas do you cover?

The GTA and most of the Golden Horseshoe: Toronto through Mississauga, Vaughan, and Markham, out to Oshawa, Hamilton, and Niagara. If you're not sure you're in range, call and we'll tell you straight.

Do I need a service contract?

No. We work call by call. Plenty of customers put us on a maintenance schedule eventually, but that's their choice after seeing the work, never a requirement.

Are the repairs warrantied?

Parts carry their manufacturer warranty, and we stand behind our labour: if the same fault recurs, call us and we'll review it. Specific terms are discussed upfront on each job, not promised in marketing copy.

Do you repair on-site or take the machine away?

On-site whenever possible, which is most of the time. If a job genuinely needs the bench, like a full boiler rebuild or major electronics work, we'll say so before anything leaves your building.

How do I book a service call?

Call us or send the form on this page. We confirm the machine, the fault, and a time window the same day. If it's urgent, say so and we'll route the nearest technician.

What happens on the first visit?

Diagnosis first: we confirm the fault, tell you what caused it, and quote the fix before touching a wrench. Most repairs finish in that same visit because the common wear parts ride on the truck.

Do you carry parts or order them in?

High-wear parts for the platforms we service constantly ride on the truck. Anything else we order, usually next-day where suppliers allow, and we tell you the lead time before committing you to anything.

My machine is older or out of production. Will you still look at it?

Usually, yes. We service legacy machines for as long as parts can be sourced, and we're honest when a repair stops making financial sense against a replacement. You get the math, you make the call.

Are you cheaper than the manufacturer's service network?

Often, but that's not the pitch. We quote against the actual work, not a factory pricing book, and we'll tell you when a manufacturer warranty claim is the better route. Transparency is the value; the price usually follows.

Can you train our staff so this doesn't happen again?

Yes, and we do it by default on the way out. Half of repeat faults trace back to skipped daily cleaning or wrong routine, so the technician walks your team through what actually matters before leaving.

Your Dalla Corte XT deserves a specialist.

Tell us the symptom and the parts ride out on the first truck.
