Small footprint, real espresso

Same-day Dalla Corte Studio repair, anywhere in the GTA.

A Studio usually lives where there's no backup machine, so when it stops, espresso stops. We repair these compact one-groups quickly and properly: PID drift, weak steam, gasket leaks, doses that wander. Most faults are diagnosed at the counter and fixed the same visit, with the common wear parts already in the van.

Dalla Corte · Compact one-group specialty espresso

The Studio.

The Studio brings Dalla Corte's per-group boiler engineering down to a compact one-group footprint. It's rated for up to 200 shots a day and shows up in small specialty cafes, espresso labs, and training rooms where counter space is scarce but standards aren't. Mechanically it's the full platform in miniature: a PID-controlled brew boiler, a separate steam boiler, and the same service logic as its bigger siblings.

Studio faults we diagnose

Common Studio faults and the fixes behind them.

Here are the Studio faults that book service calls, with what usually causes each one and what we do about it.

Brew system & pressure 4 issues
!

Group gasket leak

Routine wear at the portafilter seal. We replace the gasket and dispersion screen and confirm a clean seal under pressure.

!

Channelling visible

Oil and fines on the dispersion screen. We fit a new screen and backflush with detergent.

!

Pre-infusion drift

The solenoid or the programming. We test the valve, verify the profile through the service menu, and recalibrate.

!

Brew pressure inconsistent

Either the pump or the expansion valve. We gauge brew pressure at the portafilter, adjust the valve, and quote the pump only if its output is below spec.

Water, boiler & heating 5 issues
!

Brew boiler PID drift

Sensor wear or calibration drift. We test the NTC against a reference, recalibrate the PID, and replace the sensor if it reads out of tolerance.

!

Steam boiler low pressure

Scale, pressurestat drift, or element wear. We descale, test the pressurestat at setpoint, and replace what the measurements condemn.

!

Slow heat-up from cold

Scale on the brew boiler element. A proper descale restores the heat-up time, and we verify it before leaving.

!

Water leak

We pressure-test the circuits, isolate the leak, and replace the failed seal or fitting.

!

Drain blockage

We clear the line and check the run has enough fall to drain properly.

Milk & steam 2 issues
!

Steam cartridge worn

Normal wear. We rebuild the valve with the correct Dalla Corte cartridge and check the shut-off is dry.

!

Weak steam

Scale in the circuit restricts steam before anything else does. We descale, verify the pressurestat, and clear the tip jets.

Electronics, grinder & other 3 issues
!

Dose drift

Flow meter buildup. We clean the meter, confirm the pulse output, and reprogram the doses.

!

Display unresponsive

We diagnose board versus UI module and replace the failing one, sourced through the Dalla Corte/Franke parts network.

!

Level probe scaled

A scaled probe misreports the boiler level. We descale or replace it and watch autofill cycle correctly.

FAQ

Dalla Corte Studio, frequently asked.

20 answers covering service, repair, parts, installation, warranty, and edge cases.

Updated July 2026

Why has my Studio's shot temperature gone unstable?

The brew boiler's NTC sensor or PID calibration has drifted. We test the sensor against a reference probe, recalibrate the PID through the service interface, and replace the sensor if it's out of tolerance. On a one-group machine you taste drift quickly, so trust your palate.

Is the Studio's 200-shot rating realistic for a small cafe?

Yes, with honest upkeep. Up to 200 shots a day is the design rating, and most small specialty bars sit comfortably under it. The machines that struggle are the ones running hard water without filtration, because compact boilers feel scale sooner.

Why is steam weak on my Studio?

Scale in the steam circuit or a blocked tip, most often. If the boiler truly can't hold pressure, the pressurestat or element is failing. We descale, clear the tip jets, and test both parts at the gauge.

My Studio is leaking water underneath. How bad is it?

Could be trivial, could matter; the test is quick either way. We pressure-test the brew and boiler circuits, find the failed seal or fitting, and replace it. Don't run the machine if the leak is reaching the electronics.

How often does a Studio need descaling?

On moderate water with inline filtration, every 3 to 4 months is the working rhythm; harder water shortens it. Slow heat-up from cold is the early tell on this machine. We verify heat-up time against spec after every descale.

Can you fix drifting doses on the Studio?

Yes, and it's nearly always flow meter buildup rather than the controller. We clean the meter, confirm the pulse output, and reprogram your doses. A repeat within a few months means the water needs attention.

Does the Studio share parts with bigger Dalla Corte machines?

Much of the service kit overlaps: gaskets, steam cartridges, sensors, and seals follow the same platform logic. That's good news for repairs, because the common parts travel with the technician. Machine-specific items come through the Dalla Corte/Franke network.

We run a Studio hard in a training program. What wears first?

Group gaskets and steam valve cartridges, because training means more lock-ins and more steaming than a normal bar. Both are quick, inexpensive replacements. Put the machine on a sensible descale rhythm and it will outlast the curriculum.

How much does a repair visit cost?

Flat rate for the visit, parts billed at their actual cost on top. You'll hear the rate when you book, and for bigger jobs we quote in writing on-site before any work starts. No estimate that balloons mid-job.

How fast can you get here?

Same-day in most cases. Call in the morning and a technician is usually on-site before the day is out; calls placed later in the day book for the next morning. Urgent breakdowns get priority routing.

Which areas do you cover?

The GTA and most of the Golden Horseshoe: Toronto through Mississauga, Vaughan, and Markham, out to Oshawa, Hamilton, and Niagara. If you're not sure you're in range, call and we'll tell you straight.

Do I need a service contract?

No. We work call by call. Plenty of customers put us on a maintenance schedule eventually, but that's their choice after seeing the work, never a requirement.

Are the repairs warrantied?

Parts carry their manufacturer warranty, and we stand behind our labour: if the same fault recurs, call us and we'll review it. Specific terms are discussed upfront on each job, not promised in marketing copy.

Do you repair on-site or take the machine away?

On-site whenever possible, which is most of the time. If a job genuinely needs the bench, like a full boiler rebuild or major electronics work, we'll say so before anything leaves your building.

How do I book a service call?

Call us or send the form on this page. We confirm the machine, the fault, and a time window the same day. If it's urgent, say so and we'll route the nearest technician.

What happens on the first visit?

Diagnosis first: we confirm the fault, tell you what caused it, and quote the fix before touching a wrench. Most repairs finish in that same visit because the common wear parts ride on the truck.

Do you carry parts or order them in?

High-wear parts for the platforms we service constantly ride on the truck. Anything else we order, usually next-day where suppliers allow, and we tell you the lead time before committing you to anything.

My machine is older or out of production. Will you still look at it?

Usually, yes. We service legacy machines for as long as parts can be sourced, and we're honest when a repair stops making financial sense against a replacement. You get the math, you make the call.

Are you cheaper than the manufacturer's service network?

Often, but that's not the pitch. We quote against the actual work, not a factory pricing book, and we'll tell you when a manufacturer warranty claim is the better route. Transparency is the value; the price usually follows.

Can you train our staff so this doesn't happen again?

Yes, and we do it by default on the way out. Half of repeat faults trace back to skipped daily cleaning or wrong routine, so the technician walks your team through what actually matters before leaving.

Your Dalla Corte Studio deserves a specialist.

A one-group down is a bar down. We treat it that way.
