Two groups, one low profile

Fast Mavam MACH 2 repair for Toronto and the GTA.

When a MACH 2 starts pulling two different shots from two identical groups, the morning gets long. We repair both ends of this machine: boiler PID offsets that drift apart, API solenoids that lose their timing, steam cartridges that wear at milk-bar pace, Piano Key switches that quit. You'll get matched groups back, verified against a reference, not a guess.

Mavam · On-counter low-profile espresso, 2-group workhorse

The MACH 2.

The Mavam MACH 2 scales the MACH chassis to two groups without growing past 32 cm tall. Each group gets its own boiler and PID, with Piano Key activation and Automated Pre-Infusion keeping shots repeatable, and Cool Touch wands on steam duty. It's the MACH most working cafes choose, rated around 200 cups a day, and the service profile is two of everything: two boilers, two timings, two steam valves wearing at their own rates.

MACH 2 faults we diagnose

MACH 2 faults we see, and how each gets fixed.

Four faults cover most MACH 2 calls. Each is listed with its usual cause and the way we put it right.

Electronics, grinder & other 4 issues
!

Piano Key actuator fault

An unresponsive Piano Key traces to the switch under the key. We test it, replace it, and confirm every key on both groups registers.

!

API pre-infusion fault

When pre-infusion timing goes ragged on one group, the API solenoid or its sensor is the suspect. We check actuation on both groups against spec and replace whichever component has failed.

!

Independent boiler PID drift

Each boiler holds its own PID, so drift shows up as one group brewing off-temperature. We verify both groups against a calibrated reference and recalibrate the offset that's wandered.

!

Cool Touch wand cartridge wear

Steam cartridges on a two-wand bar wear at the pace of your milk volume. We rebuild the worn valve with a new cartridge and confirm dry shutoff.

Don't see your issue? Call (289) 217-3796 with a description of what's happening and any error codes on screen. We'll likely diagnose it before we arrive. And if the same fault keeps returning, that's scale at work. The right Mavam water filter ends the repeat visits.

Updated August 2026

My MACH 2's two groups brew at different temperatures. Which part is at fault?

Each group has its own boiler and PID, so the mismatch lives on one side. Usually it's a PID offset that's drifted rather than a hardware failure. We verify both groups against a calibrated reference and recalibrate the one that's wandered, then confirm the shots match.

Pre-infusion feels right on one group and ragged on the other. Same fix as a full rebuild?

Much smaller. API timing is governed per group by a solenoid and sensor, so we check actuation on both sides against spec and replace the failed component on the affected group. The healthy group is your benchmark, which speeds the whole diagnosis.

How long do the Cool Touch steam cartridges last on a busy milk bar?

They wear at the pace of your steaming, so a flat-white-heavy bar replaces them noticeably sooner than an espresso-led one. The tell is steam passing when the valve should be closed. We rebuild the worn valve with a new cartridge and usually check its twin while the tools are out.

Can you fix one group while the other keeps serving?

Mostly yes, since the groups run on separate boilers and pumps. We stage the work so your second group keeps pouring through the visit. Whole-machine shutdowns are reserved for shared power or supply work, and we warn you beforehand.

A Piano Key on one group needs a double press to register. Worth fixing now?

Now is cheaper than later, yes. A switch that needs two presses is a switch on its way out, and a dead key mid-rush is the worse version of the same repair. We test the actuator, replace the switch, and verify the full rail on both groups.

Does the MACH 2 take two grinders or one?

That's a workflow choice, not a machine requirement; the MACH 2 pairs with external grinders. Busy two-barista bars usually run two so each station owns its dose. Either way, grinder calibration stays separate from machine service, which keeps both jobs cleaner.

What does 'around 200 cups a day' actually mean for wear?

It means consumables on a schedule: gaskets, screens, and steam cartridges wear in proportion to throughput. At true 200-cup volume you'll see us a little more often, and the visits stay small if they're regular. Run hard and serviced rarely is how small faults graduate.

What's the difference between the MACH 2 and two MACH 1s side by side?

One chassis, one water connection, one footprint, but the same per-group independence inside. The MACH 2 gives each group its own boiler and PID, so you keep the fault isolation two separate machines would give you. Service-wise we treat it as two machines that happen to share a shell.

How much does a repair visit cost?

Flat rate for the visit, parts billed at their actual cost on top. You'll hear the rate when you book, and for bigger jobs we quote in writing on-site before any work starts. No estimate that balloons mid-job.

How fast can you get here?

Same-day. Call in the morning and a technician is usually on-site before the day is out; calls placed later in the day book for the next morning. Urgent breakdowns get priority routing.

Which areas do you cover?

The GTA and most of the Golden Horseshoe: Toronto through Mississauga, Vaughan, and Markham, out to Oshawa, Hamilton, and Niagara. If you're not sure you're in range, call and we'll tell you straight.

Do I need a service contract?

No. We work call by call. Plenty of customers put us on a maintenance schedule eventually, but that's their choice after seeing the work, never a requirement.

Are the repairs warrantied?

Parts carry their manufacturer warranty, and we stand behind our labour: if the same fault recurs, call us and we'll review it. Specific terms are discussed upfront on each job, not promised in marketing copy.

Do you repair on-site or take the machine away?

On-site whenever possible, which is most of the time. If a job genuinely needs the bench, like a full boiler rebuild or major electronics work, we'll say so before anything leaves your building.

How do I book a service call?

Call us or send the form on this page. We confirm the machine, the fault, and a time window the same day. If it's urgent, say so and we'll route the nearest technician.

What happens on the first visit?

Diagnosis first: we confirm the fault, tell you what caused it, and quote the fix before touching a wrench. Most repairs finish in that same visit because the common wear parts ride on the truck.

Do you carry parts or order them in?

High-wear parts for the platforms we service constantly ride on the truck. Anything else we order, usually next-day where suppliers allow, and we tell you the lead time before committing you to anything.

My machine is older or out of production. Will you still look at it?

Usually, yes. We service legacy machines for as long as parts can be sourced, and we're honest when a repair stops making financial sense against a replacement. You get the math, you make the call.

Are you cheaper than the manufacturer's service network?

Often, but that's not the pitch. We quote against the actual work, not a factory pricing book, and we'll tell you when a manufacturer warranty claim is the better route. Transparency is the value; the price usually follows.

Can you train our staff so this doesn't happen again?

Yes, and we do it by default on the way out. Half of repeat faults trace back to skipped daily cleaning or wrong routine, so the technician walks your team through what actually matters before leaving.

Your Mavam MACH 2 deserves a specialist.

One visit, both groups verified against a calibrated reference.
