Why is my Schaerer Coffee Soul showing error 60 or 61?
Those are boiler temperature faults: 60 on the coffee side, 61 on the steam side. A failed temperature sensor, scale insulating the element, or a worn element are the usual causes. One power cycle from the main switch is worth trying, but if the code returns within minutes, the sensor or element needs testing and the machine is telling you to stop guessing.
Why is the BestFoam foam on my Coffee Soul weak or watery?
Milk residue in the foam chamber or air-intake line disturbs the air-to-milk ratio that dense foam depends on, and a worn O-ring or tired intake spring does the same. We strip the milk system, sanitize every pathway, replace the rubber and the spring, and run foam-quality tests before we leave. Daily cleaning is what keeps it fixed.
Why won't the Coffee Soul detect cups on the counter?
The optical cup sensor on self-serve configurations mostly suffers from dirt, milk splatter, or a knocked mount rather than genuine failure. Wiping the lens with a dry cloth fixes a surprising share of cases. If a clean, aligned sensor still misreads, replacement is quick and one of the cheaper repairs on this machine.
Why is milk from our Coffee Soul coming out cold?
Either the milk temperature sensor has drifted, scale has built up in the milk-heating circuit, or the milk cooler itself is running warm. Each leaves a different fingerprint, so we test the sensor against a reference probe, check the cooler's actual temperature, and descale the milk side if that's the bottleneck. Most cases close in a single visit.
Can the Coffee Soul really handle 250 cups a day?
Yes, that's its design point, and plenty of the units we service run near it daily. The honest caveat is that volume like that compresses every maintenance interval: cleaning cycles, descales, and brew unit seals all come due faster. Machines that get that discipline hold their rating for years; machines that skip it call us instead.
The Coffee Soul touchscreen is frozen. Does it need a new display?
Probably not. Most freezes on the 10 and 12-inch displays are firmware hangs that clear with a controlled reset, and a reflash from a known-good image settles the stubborn ones. A genuine digitizer failure usually shows up as touches landing in the wrong place rather than nothing happening at all, and we test which case you have before quoting.
Why are there coffee grounds in the cup from our Coffee Soul?
A torn brew screen, a worn brew piston seal, or grind that has crept too fine for the screen's condition. We inspect both screens, replace whatever shows wear, fit a new piston seal, and recalibrate the grind so the fix holds.
What is SteamBoost on the Coffee Soul?
It's Schaerer's on-demand steam reinforcement, there to produce dense steam for larger cup volumes without the boiler falling behind. When steam goes weak on a SteamBoost machine, scale in the steam circuit or a worn valve cartridge is the usual reason, and both are routine repairs.
Is an older Coffee Soul still worth repairing?
Usually, comfortably. The parts that fail most (seals, O-rings, springs, sensors) are small money against the price of a replacement machine, and even a brew unit overhaul is a fraction of new. We quote the repair and give you an honest read on remaining life, and you decide from real numbers.
How much does a repair visit cost?
Flat rate for the visit, parts billed at their actual cost on top. You'll hear the rate when you book, and for bigger jobs we quote in writing on-site before any work starts. No estimate that balloons mid-job.
How fast can you get here?
Same-day. Call in the morning and a technician is usually on-site before the day is out; calls placed later in the day book for the next morning. Urgent breakdowns get priority routing.
Which areas do you cover?
The GTA and most of the Golden Horseshoe: Toronto through Mississauga, Vaughan, and Markham, out to Oshawa, Hamilton, and Niagara. If you're not sure you're in range, call and we'll tell you straight.
Do I need a service contract?
No. We work call by call. Plenty of customers put us on a maintenance schedule eventually, but that's their choice after seeing the work, never a requirement.
Are the repairs warrantied?
Parts carry their manufacturer warranty, and we stand behind our labour: if the same fault recurs, call us and we'll review it. Specific terms are discussed upfront on each job, not promised in marketing copy.
Do you repair on-site or take the machine away?
On-site whenever possible, which is most of the time. If a job genuinely needs the bench, like a full boiler rebuild or major electronics work, we'll say so before anything leaves your building.
How do I book a service call?
Call us or send the form on this page. We confirm the machine, the fault, and a time window the same day. If it's urgent, say so and we'll route the nearest technician.
What happens on the first visit?
Diagnosis first: we confirm the fault, tell you what caused it, and quote the fix before touching a wrench. Most repairs finish in that same visit because the common wear parts ride on the truck.
Do you carry parts or order them in?
High-wear parts for the platforms we service constantly ride on the truck. Anything else we order, usually next-day where suppliers allow, and we tell you the lead time before committing you to anything.
My machine is older or out of production. Will you still look at it?
Usually, yes. We service legacy machines for as long as parts can be sourced, and we're honest when a repair stops making financial sense against a replacement. You get the math, you make the call.
Are you cheaper than the manufacturer's service network?
Often, but that's not the pitch. We quote against the actual work, not a factory pricing book, and we'll tell you when a manufacturer warranty claim is the better route. Transparency is the value; the price usually follows.
Can you train our staff so this doesn't happen again?
Yes, and we do it by default on the way out. Half of repeat faults trace back to skipped daily cleaning or wrong routine, so the technician walks your team through what actually matters before leaving.
