Who repairs de Jong DUKE coffee machines in Toronto and the GTA?
We do. Grajqevci services de Jong DUKE machines in offices, OCS fleets, convenience stores, and fuel-station coffee programs from Hamilton out to Oshawa. The coverage list further down the page shows every zone, and the fresh-brew platform is a core part of what we service.
Are you an authorized de Jong DUKE service centre?
No, and we say that plainly. Grajqevci is an independent commercial coffee equipment specialist, so we answer to you rather than to a manufacturer program. In practice that means we'll work on out-of-warranty units, legacy platforms, and machines bought second-hand without asking how they got there.
What is fresh-brew, and how is it different from bean-to-cup espresso?
Fresh-brew grinds and brews each cup filter-style: hot water and fresh grounds meet in a brew chamber while an agitator stirs the slurry, and the result is proper filter coffee rather than espresso. Bean-to-cup machines extract under pressure through a compacted puck instead. de Jong DUKE built its name on fresh-brew, and some models (Virtu, Vareo, Rosa) can run both systems in one cabinet.
Why is the coffee from our de Jong DUKE machine suddenly weak and watery?
On a fresh-brew machine the suspects are a worn agitator paddle, a brew chamber seal letting water bypass the grounds, or grind that has drifted coarse. None of them fix themselves, and all three get worse quietly. We check each in turn, replace what's worn, and recalibrate the dose against the recipe target.
Why are there coffee grounds in the cup?
A torn filter screen in the brew chamber is the usual cause, with a failing chamber seal or a discharge valve not closing on the spent puck behind the rest. The screen is an inexpensive part, and replacing it along with the seals normally ends the problem for good. We run repeat test brews before calling it fixed.
The descale alert won't clear after we ran the cycle. What now?
Either the cycle didn't run end-to-end (a common result of an interruption) or the counter never reset afterwards. There's also a quieter cause: a water-hardness setting that doesn't match your actual supply, which makes the machine alert far too often. We sort all three in one visit and verify the descale actually did its work.
How often do these machines need descaling on GTA water?
Most of the region's municipal water runs moderate, around 120 to 160 mg/L, which puts a typical office machine at a descale every two to four months depending on volume. Vaughan, Markham, and Hamilton sit at the hard end and need shorter intervals. The machine's own counter is the best guide once the hardness setting matches the install.
ConnectMe says our machine is offline. Can you fix that?
Yes. Offline usually means the site network changed (new router, new firewall rule, dead SIM) rather than a broken machine, but a failed comms module shows the same way. We test the network path, reset the telemetry stack, and replace the module if the hardware is genuinely at fault. Drinks keep pouring locally either way.
We're an OCS operator. Can you service our de Jong DUKE fleet at client sites?
Yes, and we already do this for operators across the region. We work at your client's site, document every visit, and can take dispatch straight off your ConnectMe alerts. Fleet pattern-spotting is part of the value: when five machines share a fault, the cause is usually water or routine, not the machines.
Do you still repair the older Zico, Edge, and Siro models?
Yes. They were retired when the lineup was refreshed, but the fresh-brew architecture carries over, so the diagnostic work is familiar. Parts get thinner each year, which we're honest about: if a component has to come from refurbisher stock, you'll know the lead time before committing.
Can you still get parts for filterfresh and UNI-brewer machines?
Often, yes, though not from a catalogue. We source from refurbisher networks and decommissioned donor units, and we'll fit a quality aftermarket equivalent where one exists. When a legacy machine stops being economical to keep alive, we say so before you spend more on it.
How long should a de Jong DUKE machine last?
Ten to twelve years with regular service is the realistic window, and plenty of machines on our books are past it. Scale and skipped daily cleans are what shorten lives, and both are preventable. The brew chamber and whipper components are all serviceable, so age alone is rarely the reason to replace one.
Our hot chocolate and cappuccino taste weak or come out lumpy. Why?
That's the instant side: powder clumping on a damp whipper bowl wall, a pitted impeller, or scale at the bowl's water inlet. Humidity in the canister makes it worse in summer. A proper strip and clean plus a new impeller usually restores the mix, and we'll tighten up the daily-clean routine so it holds.
The machine says a canister is empty right after we refilled it. What's wrong?
The refill sensor isn't seeing the product, usually because powder dust has coated it, the connector has worked loose, or the canister isn't fully seated. A refit and a sensor clean fix most cases on the spot. A sensor that keeps misreading after that gets replaced.
The touchscreen is frozen. Does it need a new display?
Usually not. Most frozen screens on the Lua, Rosa, and other touchscreen models are firmware hangs that clear with a controlled reset, and a reflash settles the stubborn ones. A genuinely failed digitizer is the rarer case, and we test for it before quoting, because the two fixes cost very different amounts.
How fast can you get to a dead machine?
Morning calls usually see a technician the same day; later calls book for the next business day. Tell us the model and any code on the screen when you book, and the van leaves with the likely parts loaded. Sites that lose revenue when coffee stops, like convenience counters, get moved up the route.
How much does a de Jong DUKE repair cost?
The visit and diagnosis are a flat amount you hear when you book. Parts are billed on top at their actual cost: a chamber seal kit is small money, a controller is not, and you'll have the full number in writing before any larger job starts. If replacement genuinely makes more sense, that's what we'll tell you.
Do you service every Virtu, Vareo, and Rosa configuration?
Yes. These three are configurable platforms, so one site's machine pours filter coffee only while the next adds bean-to-cup espresso and fresh milk. The sub-systems are the same building blocks across the range, and we carry wear parts for all of them. Tell us the configuration when you book and the right kit comes along.
Should we repair our old machine or upgrade to the new Lua or Avy?
Run the math, not the marketing. If your machine needs one worn sub-system serviced, repair wins comfortably; if it's a legacy unit needing several major components at once, the refreshed platform starts to make sense. We'll give you a straight read on remaining life with the quote, and we don't sell machines, so the advice has no thumb on the scale.
Do you fix the espresso side as well as the filter side?
Yes, both. The bean-to-cup espresso unit on Virtu, Vareo, and Rosa configurations is standard brew-unit work: jams from grind buildup, worn cam followers, seals, and lubrication. The fresh-brew chamber is its own vocabulary, and we speak both, which matters because a generalist usually only knows one.
