Fetco · High-volume thermal-dispenser brewer (3.0 gal)

The CBS-61H-30.

The CBS-61H-30 is Fetco's high-volume single-station brewer that pours into a 3-gallon LUXUS thermal dispenser. Dual 4kW heaters give it fast recovery at 15 to 21 gallons an hour, and banquet kitchens, stadiums, catering, and mobile operators run it where coffee has to keep flowing. From the service side the heaters work hard, so scale and element protection trips lead the faults, alongside the usual sprayhead and valve wear and the dispenser's own seals.

CBS-61H-30 faults we diagnose

Common CBS-61H-30 faults, and how we fix them.

These are the CBS-61H-30 faults we see on real service calls, with the cause behind each one and how we clear it.

Brew system & pressure 3 issues
!

Sprayhead scaled

Scale in the sprayhead weakens the brew. We descale each orifice and verify the pattern.

!

Brew valve fault

A brew valve that won't open is a failed coil or worn diaphragm. We isolate it electrically and replace the valve.

!

Bypass timing drift

Bypass timing drifts with seat wear. We measure the split, reset it, and replace the cartridge if needed.

Water, boiler & heating 5 issues
!

Brew temperature low

Temperature drift is scale insulating the element or a thermostat reading off. We descale the tank, test the thermostat against a reference, and replace it if it is out of spec.

!

Refill slow

Slow refill is the inlet valve or the level probe. We test each and replace whichever has failed.

!

Element protection trip

The dual 4kW heaters trip their protection when scale insulates them. We descale and replace an element if it has degraded.

!

Basket overflow

Overflow comes down to a grind or filter that doesn't suit the batch. We check both against spec and adjust until the bed drains properly.

!

Scale buildup

Short descale intervals track hard local water. We descale, reset the counter, and recommend softening or a scale cartridge upstream.

Electronics, grinder & other 7 issues
!

Drip from sprayhead

A drip from the sprayhead at standby is the brew valve diaphragm leaking past its seat. We replace the diaphragm and seat, then confirm the head stays dry at standby pressure.

!

Controller fault

A controller fault flags a failed subsystem. We isolate the part and replace it.

!

Level probe erratic

Erratic level readings come from scale building up on the probe rod. We descale it, recheck continuity to the tank, and replace the probe if it still misreads.

!

Thermostat drift

A drifting thermostat is sensor wear. We compare it to a reference and replace it if it is out.

!

Decanter loses heat on warmer

Heat loss at the warmer is a failing warmer element. We test it under load and replace it if it has degraded.

!

Warmer plate stuck on or burned out

A warmer plate stuck on or dead is a failed switch or element. We test both and replace whichever has gone.

!

Brew stalls

A stalling brew is a restriction or a valve fault. We find where it hangs and clear or replace as needed.

Don't see your issue? Call (289) 217-3796 with a description of what's happening and any error codes on screen. We'll likely diagnose it before we arrive. And if the same fault keeps returning, that's scale at work. The right Fetco water filter ends the repeat visits.

FAQ

Fetco CBS-61H-30, frequently asked.

20 answers covering service, repair, parts, installation, warranty, and edge cases.

Updated August 2026

The heater protection on our CBS-61H-30 keeps tripping. Why?

The dual 4kW heaters run hard, and when scale insulates them they overheat and trip the protection. We descale the tank, inspect the elements for damage, and replace one if it has degraded, then push for a softener upstream so it does not recur.

Why is our CBS-61H-30 slow to recover temperature between batches?

Slow recovery is usually scale on the elements or low supply pressure starving the fill. We descale, verify the element draw against spec, and check inlet pressure, because at this volume a weak supply shows up as lag between batches.

The LUXUS dispenser on our CBS-61H-30 is losing heat. Can you fix it?

Yes. A dispenser losing heat is usually a worn dispense valve seal or a tired lid gasket. We replace the seal kit and gasket and pressure-test the vacuum. A breached vacuum chamber is not worth repairing, and we would quote a replacement dispenser.

The warmer on our CBS-61H-30 is not heating. What is it?

A dead warmer is a failed element or switch. We test both under load and replace whichever has gone, then confirm the plate holds temperature.

How often does a high-volume CBS-61H-30 need descaling?

At banquet or stadium volume on hard local water, every two months is realistic, because the heaters and throughput drive scale fast. We descale, reset the counter, and strongly recommend a softener sized to the brew volume.

Our CBS-61H-30 sprayhead is scaling and the brew is uneven. What do you do?

Scale closing the sprayhead orifices shifts the water pattern at high volume. We pull the head, descale each hole, and verify the spray pattern against a clean reference before reinstalling.

Is the CBS-61H-30 worth repairing or replacing?

Almost always repairing. It is a serious high-volume machine, and elements, sprayheads, valves, and dispenser seals are a fraction of replacement cost. We give you the repair quote and an honest read on remaining life.

Can you service the CBS-61H-30 and its dispenser on-site?

Yes. The brewer and the LUXUS dispenser are both serviceable in place, so we descale, replace heater and valve parts, rebuild the dispenser seals, and test right where it stands.

How much does a repair visit cost?

Flat rate for the visit, parts billed at their actual cost on top. You'll hear the rate when you book, and for bigger jobs we quote in writing on-site before any work starts. No estimate that balloons mid-job.

How fast can you get here?

Same-day. Call in the morning and a technician is usually on-site before the day is out; calls placed later in the day book for the next morning. Urgent breakdowns get priority routing.

Which areas do you cover?

The GTA and most of the Golden Horseshoe: Toronto through Mississauga, Vaughan, and Markham, out to Oshawa, Hamilton, and Niagara. If you're not sure you're in range, call and we'll tell you straight.

Do I need a service contract?

No. We work call by call. Plenty of customers put us on a maintenance schedule eventually, but that's their choice after seeing the work, never a requirement.

Are the repairs warrantied?

Parts carry their manufacturer warranty, and we stand behind our labour: if the same fault recurs, call us and we'll review it. Specific terms are discussed upfront on each job, not promised in marketing copy.

Do you repair on-site or take the machine away?

On-site whenever possible, which is most of the time. If a job genuinely needs the bench, like a full boiler rebuild or major electronics work, we'll say so before anything leaves your building.

How do I book a service call?

Call us or send the form on this page. We confirm the machine, the fault, and a time window the same day. If it's urgent, say so and we'll route the nearest technician.

What happens on the first visit?

Diagnosis first: we confirm the fault, tell you what caused it, and quote the fix before touching a wrench. Most repairs finish in that same visit because the common wear parts ride on the truck.

Do you carry parts or order them in?

High-wear parts for the platforms we service constantly ride on the truck. Anything else we order, usually next-day where suppliers allow, and we tell you the lead time before committing you to anything.

My machine is older or out of production. Will you still look at it?

Usually, yes. We service legacy machines for as long as parts can be sourced, and we're honest when a repair stops making financial sense against a replacement. You get the math, you make the call.

Are you cheaper than the manufacturer's service network?

Often, but that's not the pitch. We quote against the actual work, not a factory pricing book, and we'll tell you when a manufacturer warranty claim is the better route. Transparency is the value; the price usually follows.

Can you train our staff so this doesn't happen again?

Yes, and we do it by default on the way out. Half of repeat faults trace back to skipped daily cleaning or wrong routine, so the technician walks your team through what actually matters before leaving.
