Every fault below is one we meet on real Brasilia calls, listed with its usual cause and the repair that puts it right.
Group gaskets are the standard wear item on the B16 group: they compress, harden, and start weeping around the portafilter. We back-flush the group, pull the dispersion screen and screw, fit the Brasilia-spec gasket, lubricate the portafilter ears with food-safe grease, and confirm a dry seal across several test shots.
Brew pressure gets measured where it matters, at the portafilter with a gauge in place. From there we adjust the OPV to 9 bar and rebuild or replace the rotary pump head if output stays below spec under load. Classyc rotary pumps are straightforward service items with broadly available parts.
The B16 group only holds temperature when the Bullone Rosso pre-heat line is clean and the thermosiphon is properly calibrated, so scale in either is the usual cause of drift. We verify each group's brew temperature with a calibrated probe at the portafilter, inspect the Bullone Rosso circuit, descale where needed, and re-dial each group through the BL-500 touchscreen or, on the BL-100, the pressurestat. Shots come back to spec before we sign off.
Fixing Control is Brasilia's on-board self-diagnosis system, and every fault code maps to a specific subsystem. We pull the code through the 4.3-inch touchscreen, verify the diagnosis by probe before swapping anything, and check the cable seats on the controller board while the panels are off. Touch panel and controller-board work account for most electronics calls on machines past their second year.
Electronic pre-infusion runs through a per-group solenoid driven by the controller, so a group that skips it has lost one or the other. Testing solenoid actuation against the controller signal shows which, and the failing component gets replaced. Pre-infusion timing is then re-verified against the operator's preferred profile.
Three things have to be right for the cycle to complete: cleaner level, a cleaning blank seated square in the portafilter, and adequate water inlet pressure. That goes for per-group Auto-Cleaning on the BL-series and the automatic cycle on the Classyc alike. We verify all three, correct what has slipped, and re-run the cycle to confirm it finishes.
The BL-100's LED membrane keypad and the Classyc's raised physical buttons both wear with cycle count. Continuity testing shows which traces or switches have failed, and we replace the membrane or the individual switches accordingly. Volumetric programming is verified afterward so every selection records correctly.
A machine that has drifted outside its preventive window usually announces it through the boiler first. One visit brings it back to Brasilia's schedule: full boiler descale, fresh gasket and shower screen, Bullone Rosso line inspection, OPV re-set, and a verified Auto-Cleaning run. The operator leaves with a written preventive cadence so the next service lands on time.
Hard municipal water slowly scales the BL-series stainless steel boiler, and steam pressure is where you feel it first. A thorough descale clears the buildup; while the boiler is open we measure the heating element's resistance and replace the element if it is drawing low. Steam pressure is re-verified under load before sign-off.
Cool Touch wands stay cool thanks to an internal thermal break, and milk residue working into the assembly is what defeats it. We disassemble the wand, clean and inspect the insulation, and replace the assembly if the break has failed. Daily wand-clean discipline is the main preventive.

No. Grajqevci is an independent commercial espresso specialist. For a brand like Brasilia, whose machines routinely outlive their dealer relationships, that independence is what keeps them repairable: we source parts wherever they genuinely exist and answer to you, not a program.
Pressurestats, comfortably. The mechanical pressurestat controls boiler pressure on most Brasilia frames, and with age the setpoint creeps or the differential collapses. We test, adjust, or replace it on the spot; Sirai and CEME units fit most generations, so the part is rarely the holdup.
Mostly, yes, with honesty about the gaps. Gaskets, screens, pressurestats, pumps, and valves are generic or cross-compatible and remain easy to source. Model-specific panels and the Verona's ITP electronics are the hard part: those come from Italian distributor stock, refurbisher shelves, and donor machines, and availability thins a little every year.
Usually. These frames are heavy-gauge, mechanically simple, and built around parts that still exist, which is why so many are still pulling shots thirty years on. The honest exceptions are a boiler rotted past saving or dead proprietary electronics with no donor in reach. We'll tell you which side of that line yours is on before you spend anything.
Almost always a scaled-over level probe. The probe stops conducting once mineral coats it, and the machine reads that as an empty boiler. Pulling and descaling or replacing the probe is quick work, and we check the autofill circuit at the same time so the fault doesn't bounce back.
Scale, nine times out of ten. It builds in the boiler and steam circuit until warm-up stretches and steam fades halfway through a pitcher of milk. A full descale, an element check, and a steam valve rebuild where needed bring the pressure back, and busy bars on local water should plan on that cycle every couple of years.

The visit and diagnosis are a flat rate you hear when you book. Parts go on top at their real cost: a group gasket is small money, a rotary pump or an ITP board substitution is not, and bigger jobs get a written quote before work starts. If replacement beats repair, we say so.

Yes. Erratic volumes on an ITP-equipped Verona usually mean mineral-coated flow meter wheels or a drifting board. We clean and recalibrate the flow meters first, then repair the board where components allow, or fit a compatible volumetric controller when the original is past saving. The machine doesn't have to retire with its electronics.
The wear items, yes: group gaskets, dispersion screens, pressurestats, level probes, steam valve kits, and the common pump and solenoid parts that close out most first visits. Model-specific bodywork and electronics are ordered per job, usually a few business days through the Italian channel, and we quote the lead time before committing you.
Could be either, and we check the machine half honestly. On a Brasilia, thin fast pours point at a scaled dispersion screen, a clogged gicleur, or brew pressure sagging under load, all of which we can measure at the portafilter. If the machine tests clean, it's a grind and dose conversation, and we'll say exactly that rather than sell you a repair.
On moderate GTA water, plan on a professional descale every couple of years for an average bar, tighter where the water runs harder or the volume is high. The machine warns you first: longer warm-up, fading steam, a pressurestat that cycles restlessly. Inline filtration stretches the interval and costs far less than the boiler work it prevents.
Full rebuilds are routine. Beyond gaskets and screens we service the brew solenoid behind the group, clear the gicleur ultrasonically, and inspect the expansion valve, which between them cover almost every group-side fault these machines develop. Brasilia was founded in 1977 in Italy. It grew through the 1980s and 1990s into a globally distributed commercial espresso manufacturer, filed for bankruptcy in 2013, and was acquired in 2015 by Bianchi Industry, the Trapletti family group headquartered at Zingonia, near Bergamo. Bianchi Industry builds and distributes the current Brasilia commercial lineup today.
The core of the current Brasilia commercial range is three machines. The BL-500 is the flagship, sold in Light Edition and Dark Edition trims, 2 or 3 group, standard or tall cup. It carries the full Brasilia tech stack: B16 brewing unit, Bullone Rosso pre-heat thermal stability system, adjustable electronic pre-infusion, stainless steel boiler with dry steam, 4.3-inch touchscreen, Cool Touch steam wands, per-group Auto-Cleaning, and Smart Light RGB status LEDs. The BL-100 is the mid-range workhorse: the same B16 group, static pre-infusion, an LED membrane keypad, and simpler electronics.
